The Role
The community at HSBC was amazing, and I was grateful for the amount of responsibility given to me in my team. It was very well organised, and there were plenty of opportunities to make the most of.
Both the intern community and the community in my team and office were very close knit, with a number of intern and office socials organised.
The amount of support provided to me was fab. We were linked to a graduate, with whom we had weekly 1:1s. I also had weekly 1:1s with my line manager and the team was always available to support me. There were also plenty of other avenues to explore if you needed support or were unsure.
I was very busy, with intern events, team events and projects. This helped me to make the most out of my time at HSBC and allowed me to get involved in a number of projects, meaning I felt like I made a real difference to my team during my time.
I supported other interns, and was provided with projects crucial to my team and the region. This level of responsibility was great, and I liked the fact that I was in charge of completing my work and staying on track.
I was in a client facing role, which helped me with product mapping and learning about client interactions. Due to the number of projects I got involved in, I found that my professional skills were enhanced, such as presentations. The importance of networking and effective ways to do this was often highlighted during my internship.
The Company
Interns often met for lunch, and the office hosted events such as summer drinks and celebrating HSBC's first birthday. There was always something to get involved in.
The graduate team organised everything very effectively, and next steps were clearly outlined at each stage from receiving my internship offer to the celebration event.
Intern development days were organised, and we often have development opportunities mixed in to our time in the bank. I was invited to all development and training events that members of my team attended.

I would love to work for HSBC in the future - I have found that the company culture is unrivalled.
The Culture
There were 12 interns on my floor, and we often met for lunch or after work with other interns in London. We also partook in a touch rugby tournament.
It was quite costly as I was placed in London, but we often went to less expensive pubs after work.
Abundance of bars and pubs to go to.
Opportunity to help with graduate committees, and I played touch rugby with another team.
