The Role
I enjoyed my internship to a large extent. I felt that I had a lot more fun than I thought I would. I think the fact that the 8 weeks flew by so quickly demonstrates how much I enjoyed it, as each day was very busy and all were so different.
I felt valued by my colleagues to a significant extent.
I was given a lot of support and guidance by my manager, though the right amount - not so much that it was limiting, but enough to give me confidence.
Really varied on a daily basis, but only a couple of days I felt like I could be doing more.
I felt the level of responsibility I was given was the right balance as I would have perhaps felt more uncomfortable with more responsibility! I think that I was given lots of responsibility within projects and tasks, but not so much that I felt extremely pressured or worried, which would have been too much.
I developed analytical skills which although I cannot directly apply these to my academic studies, I still really value them. Not only will they potentially be useful in the future but I believe that they encourage new and different ways of thinking and approaching tasks which will undoubtedly lead to better outcomes and ideas.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was really fun but also balanced with focus. Everyone clearly worked hard whilst engaging in fun conversation and talking to each other. This helped the office to have a very welcoming, relaxed yet focused atmosphere. I think this was helped by the fact it was regional so smaller in comparison to others.
Very well organised, I always knew who to talk to if I encountered any difficulties or issues. Good levels of communication enabled everyone to be clear and on the same page.
We had a development day, CSR day and discovery global induction day - all of which felt like significant investments into us by the firm.
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing. The culture and community that the organisation creates and promotes is very appealing and I imagine quite universally attractive.
The Culture
Yes - although I feel my experience of this was different as I was in a smaller office with only two other interns, so may have been more sociable elsewhere.
I go to uni in the area I worked so already had accommodation - however it is fairly pricey, yet not extortionate.
really good!
Not as many as I had hoped, but once again this may have been due to the smaller sized office I was placed in. Although I wouldn't view this as an inherent negative
