The Role
Was a fantastic 8 weeks and would recommend to anyone.
I was aware of the importance of my main objective during the internship to the team and the company. My colleagues were also very quick to offer feedback and let me know when I had done a good job.
My manager was on annual leave for quite a large part of the internship and the colleague who I worked closest with was mainly situated in another office. This made it difficult to have continuous guidance, however, the guidance I did receive was very helpful.
As the internship progressed I found myself more and more busy as I took on greater work and responsibility. The work load was enough to keep me interested and stay busy, but not too much that I felt under excessive pressure/stress.
I was given substantial responsibility throughout the process to make my work my own. I was in complete control of my objective which I enjoyed a lot.
My role was primarily focused on new business/sales. This is a completely different area compared to what I have done previously and so was a great learning opportunity. I feel being a good sales person is relevant to almost every career, particularly as you move up the ranks and are increasingly responsible for bringing in revenue.
The Company
There was a positive atmosphere with a fair amount of lighthearted conversation. Also most of my colleagues were very much into sport and were happy to give updates on scores for various important sporting events.
Was incredibly well organised with many additional intern-specific initiatives in place. This included a speaker series where we could learn about different business lines, a volunteering day and a dragon's den themed final presentation. All of these were good fun and supported learning.
I felt that there was a good amount of personal training and development. For one, everyone at the firm is incredibly friendly and were willing to have a chat about what they do in their role. Also the speaker series was a fantastic mode of learning.
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Very appealing - would happily work for this company.
The Culture
There was a good social scene with regular drinks for the interns. Colleagues would also regularly take us out for lunch or drinks after work.
Central London is very expensive in terms of food, accommodation and travel. However, there is a huge array of social events that we can attend.
Very good. Huge number of pubs and bars to choose from.
Yes, I played 6-aside football every Tuesday. I am sure there are other activities put on as well.
