    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my first time working in a corporate company! Everyone at WTW was so friendly and I learnt a lot. I was put into a really nice time and my line manager was really good at giving me work and checking I was ok, along side giving me a lot of independence.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was happy to chat and respected you if you asked questions or was working on a project with them. Over emails people would take longer to do stuff as they knew you were an intern, which made some tasks harder to complete. People were willing to have meetings with you and talk about there area and give you advice which was really useful.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was so lovely. She gave me a variety of roles which enabled me to develop a wide range of skills and use those I already had. If I had questions thy would always explain! She also provided me with advice for the future to help aid me with my career path and what she thought would be most valuable.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varied a lot. Some days I had a lot on and was very busy which I liked, but others I did have a lot of waiting around before I could get on with work. For the first half I had a personal project to get on with which meant I always had something to go back to. I increased my business by organizing my own personal meetings with different colleagues

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible for creating slides and animations for my areas intranet and that made me feel like the work I was doing was worthwhile. I was responsible not only in my work but in part of my own personal growth through organizing my own meetings. It was a healthy amount of responsibility to be stretched but not stressed out.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely improved my research skills, which will help me in my degree. My networking skills were drastically improved as I attended conferences where I didn't know most of the people and meetings. My knowledge of the world of insurance has increased a lot and I feel much more confident in discussing financial matters.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • So friendly! Everyone was really welcoming and would shake your hand and talk to you and have an interest. Everyone was really approachable if you needed to ask questions, or require their area of expertise. The graduate development team were supportive and helped me learn more about the company so I could figure out what suited me best

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Great speaker series to improve knowledge of the company. Also lots of calls and meeting to check up on how you are doing, and if there is anything anyone can do to help. Good intern project separate to team work, which was well organised. Objectives meant you had set deadlines you knew you needed to work towards

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company provided CRB talks to improve your knowledge of the company and insurance in general, and helped with networking. The presentation skills day helped to improve confidence and learn new techniques to engage the target audience. The company also helped me find people to go out broking with so I could experience Llyod's

    4/5

  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • They organised a social event on our second day so we got to know each other quickly in a less formal environment and I formed really good friendships which improved my time on this internship. After this we were able to organize our own social time. Would have been nice to maybe have one more organised social event.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very expensive for drinks after work but there are lots of bars which offer 2 for 1 happy hours between 5 and 7. Food is also expensive, but that is just central London for you. However because there is such a buzz you are paying for the atmosphere which makes it worth it

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Great range of clubs and bars with a huge range of music. However drinks are so expensive as can be club entry. Swingers is so close by and that is a bar where you can play mini golf with friends. Due to good transport links it is easy to get to and from different places

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Less opportunities to join a sports team for interns, that is just for the grads and full time employees. However within work teams there were drinks events and lunches etc. However there is a gym which you can use.
