    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The internship was very organised, with a 2 day introduction. With the first day giving us an insight into the operations of Willis Towers Watson and the second day giving us an insight into my specific division division which was Corporate Risk and Broking.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues. My team made sure I was actively involved in everything they did, ranging from a new submission which they would tell me about to going with them to see an underwriter at LLoyds. The work I was tasked to do was both challenging and enjoyable.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager would speak to me on a daily basis to see how I was performing with both my work and how I was getting on with the other members of my team. If I was overloaded with work, my manager always understood and always asked me if I had the capacity to do a piece for her as I was given several pieces of work by many team members.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This ultimately varied throughout the internship. I had several ongoing projects throughout, which I would always work on when I had nothing else to do. I was given lots of different pieces of work ranging from helping the team researching new business to excel spreadsheets which needed to be amended. Whenever I did not have anything left to do, I would just ask my team if they had any work for me, and normally they did which would keep me busy.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a fair amount of responsibility, this ranged from sending off endorsements to underwriters to the the team trusting me to research the operations and exposures of the business. I was also tasked with updating new business online which would ultimately effect revenue targets and results. I was also tasked with designing a new intranet animation video which would be used by the business in the future.

My networking skills have also improved. After completing a presentation in front of senior members of the business I have also improved my presentation skills. I have also improved skills such as teamwork and my excel skills
