About You
It was so fun to meet so many like-minded individuals and network with both interns and employees whilst gaining an insight into the company. I thoroughly enjoyed it - perhaps it would have been better if the intern night out could have been on Friday instead of Thursday night!
Very valued. We were treated like any other employee in terms of food allowances, access to other areas necessary throughout the week (with the entrance ID cards), 24/7. I felt that the company were really investing in us in terms of education too - information sessions, activities, training and BMC. Our travel and accommodation were also paid for.
There was a lot of support in terms of discussing the roles that we may like to apply to as we could speak to HR and Team Leaders at any time. The timetable gave us a good guide on what we were doing. I would have liked to have a little more support on the project for Friday (a small group meeting with a team leader on the structure of our presentation could have been nice for a heads up).
Although my degree is unrelated to finance (BA Modern Languages), the skills that I have learnt during this week are invaluable to the work place and my personal growth and development. It has helped me to gain an insight into finance -it confirmed my passion to work in finance. This week has allowed me to understand how I can use my language skills in the world of finance and international networking.
The Company
Incredible. The timetable was packed, with frequent 5 minute coffee breaks in between (so much choice of food and drinks!), whilst at the same time being varied and engaging.
I felt a little overwhelmed on the first day as the office building is breathtaking. I also had no idea about finance and struggled to understand some of the concepts and Terminal demos explained during the sessions. After the initial shock, I realised that as long as you are willing to learn, the company are very welcoming to people from all personal and professional backgrounds. Overall, the atmosphere was great and I would love to come back to pursue a career here.
A lot. We had introduction talks into financial markets, talks on how to do well in each department, shadowing sessions and even CV and cover writing workshops.
I feel like I've really understood the feel of how we would be treated here as full time employees, whilst also gaining an insight on what and how I could finally contribute to the company.
We had sessions on Bloomberg culture and values, as well as just seeing the attitude of the employees has given me a true idea of the culture
I gained a huge insight and at the same time, interest into financial markets.
Everything Else
Bloomberg paid for my flights and accommodation to get to the insight week.
Yes - with summer interns as well as employees in a range of departments.
Relaxed, with food, and fun. There was also an intern night out.
Yes - the events, philanthropies and through the Bloomberg D&I.
Yes - give the application a shot, even if you don't have a finance background.
