    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement year at ProspectSoft has been absolutely amazing! I genuinely couldn’t ask for a better company to be a part of. Over these past 13 months, I have consistently been surrounded by an awesome bunch of people who are so helpful, supportive and charismatic – I feel extremely lucky to be a part of the ProspectSoft family! I’ve not only developed a huge range of skills that will help me thrive in the graduate world, but I have evolved massively as a person. With genuine care and support from the company, I have been able to flourish as an individual and feel more confident in my abilities. My Marketing Manager has been incredible; she has always encouraged me to believe in myself and without a doubt, she will always be an inspiration to me. There is such a loving, family environment to ProspectSoft, and the social and buzzing atmosphere is what makes ProspectSoft so special. Through huge amounts of responsibility and exposure to great opportunities, ProspectSoft have provided me with an invaluable experience, skills and memories that I’ll carry forever.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Hugely! ProspectSoft have always shown their appreciation of placement students and they treat you exactly like any other permanent employee. Especially within the Marketing Department, I have always been encouraged to share my ideas and voice my opinions, and during my personal and professional development, my manager was constantly so appreciative and supportive. During the monthly company-wide meetings, our Manager would never fail to give us a confidence boosting shoutout, highlighting all the exciting projects we’d be working on and the individual developments we’d made that month! It felt great to receive a round of applause from everyone in the company, and to show off the results of all our hard-work, determination and passion.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I can’t express how incredible the support and guidance has been from my Manager during the whole of my placement year. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and no question was ever silly – our Manager always took time to run through tasks/projects with us, making sure we thoroughly understood everything and answered any queries we had with complete patience and kindness. Monthly catch ups allowed us to review our progress and to put motivating plans in place! My Manager was amazing and was always there if I ever needed anything, no matter how big or small. In addition to this, at the beginning of our placement year we had a month of in-depth training. This was brilliant because it allowed us to settle in nicely, whilst also preparing us with the knowledge and skills we needed to help us get started in our own departments. ProspectSoft provided excellent teaching and guidance throughout our training period, and this is often very rare in the placement world!

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day was different and there was always something exciting to get stuck into. What I loved most about my role was that I was never just working on one task for a long period of time. I always had a great range of different projects to crack on with, and this diversity meant that every day was enjoyable and unique. Whether I was marking cover letters/CVs, conducting telephone interviews, designing adverts, writing blogs or creating new campaigns, I was always super busy with engaging and exciting tasks!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Right from the very start and throughout the whole of my placement, I was given huge amounts of responsibility which really made me feel like a truly respected and appreciated employee. Whether I was creating, developing and delivering campaigns by myself, managing all social media platforms or completely re-branding our placement platform, I was always given the responsibility of a full-time employee. The amount of responsibility we’re given at ProspectSoft means that we’re constantly learning and developing our skills, in a supportive and trusting environment; a huge reason as to why you should definitely consider working at an SME for your placement year!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The first month of training at ProspectSoft was invaluable to my whole experience, and it helped me feel more prepared and comfortable when the time came to move into our individual departments. It provided excellent stepping stones for understanding the company and product, and allowed us to really develop our confidence and knowledge before we entered our roles. My knowledge of software, the cloud, SaaS, CRM and all things B2B, has excelled massively – especially as I had no knowledge or experience in the industry before! I have also been able to hugely enhance my B2C marketing skills, after taking on the management and responsibility of our placement platform. This ranged from social media management, executing campaign collaborations with universities & RMP, re-branding the whole platform and creating material for promotional purposes. All the responsibility I’ve had and the opportunities ProspectSoft have provided me with, in both the areas of B2B and B2C, has enabled my personal and professional skills to flourish; developing my interpersonal skills and confidence, and my critical thinking, attention to detail and creative skills. Even after training, support and self-development was continued and my Manager always provided me with opportunities to excel my learning. Undeniably, my experience with ProspectSoft will help me when I return to university and take on post-grad life!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The employees of ProspectSoft are very sociable, and there is always something going on that you can get involved with – whether it’s a games night, going out for a curry, golfing or a night out in Oxford, there’s lots happening! If you have a new idea regarding a social event or activity, you can freely put the idea out there and bring people together; ProspectSoft encourages ideas and social involvement! • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was able to live at home during my placement year, and this enabled me to save money in terms of living costs. Whilst other placements found living in Oxford a little pricey due to it’s central location and transport links, it’s a lovely area to live and there’s plenty going on to keep you busy - if you like busy!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There’s plenty of bars and clubs in Oxford to choose from, and the social scene is really good because it’s a student area - due to the surrounding universities.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There’s plenty to do in Oxford, and if there’s a hobby you wanted to continue taking up, or if there was something new you wanted to get involved in, there is always the opportunity to accomplish it if you want to. If you have any ideas, just shout them out and get people involved! The more you put in and the more effort you make to get involved and mingle with different people, then the more fulfilment you will get out of things. ProspectSoft are such a friendly and charismatic company, so never be afraid to suggest ideas for social activities both inside, and outside of work!
