The Role
Overall I really enjoyed my placement with Mace. I was given lots of opportunity and responsibility, I was able to sit and partake in many meetings which provided me with a significant learning experience. There were a number of days where I was left with very little work to do however this was the exception.
I felt very highly valued my by colleges. My line manager made me fell very valued and was very helpful both in giving me responsibilities and also teaching me the basics. the wider team were also very keen to get to know me and give me work and advise. This was definitely one of the best aspects of the internship
My line manager gave me lots of support through out the internship and was always happy for me to ask questions. At times I felt a bit lost if I was given a new task to do and was not given any advice meaning the task would take a few attempts and longer than it should have, however this only happed 3 or 4 times in the entire placement.
The majority of days I was very kept very busy. I had a good balance of tasks that I would work on through out the placement and tasks that I would be given in the day to be completed by the end of that day or by the end of the week.
I feel like I was given a good amount of responsibility. by the end of the placement I was able to take meetings and email clients with out needing my line managers supervision. I was very happy with the work I was given as it made me feel like a proper member of the team.
The skills I have developed will definitely help me in my degree and especially in the wider world. Skills such as meeting conduct, management of data, time management will prove very useful for me. Skills such as organisation and communication will also benefit me in my degree and in future internship ort placement opportunities.
The Company
The overall atmosphere was very enjoyable and a good place to be in. There was a good balance between work and social discussion. People are able to work intensely with pout issue but also chat about none work activities at times during the day without feeling pressured by colleges to keep on working.
The placement felt very organised through out. I met my line manager on my first morning and people in the team were aware that I was new and would be joining for the summer. All the paper work needed to be filled out over the placement was provided at the start and line managers were aware of what they had to do.
I believe the company invested a good amount in me. I was guided through several training modules and my development has been an important issue for my line manager. I have consistently felt looked after and that I was given opportunities to develop my skills within the company. The company has a strange desire to re hire interns

I would be very happy and keen to come back and work at Mace. the company is very open with a great atmosphere. It is also a leading company within the sector and has a strong desire to promote from within at any opportunity. The people have been fantastic to work with and I would enjoy working with them again.
The Culture
there was a good amount of social events provided by Mace at the early stages of the internship. I went to a number of drinks with my team and fellow interns during my placement on top of this. Overall I| would say the social environment is very string within the company.
the office is located in central London. As a London based student I was able to continue to live in my current student house. I would recommend a cost of rent at an average of £175 per bed per week, with £200+ per bed per week at the more high quality end and £160 per bed per week approaching the lowest available. A zone 1 and 2 travel card is £90 per month and cost of food and drink is around £70 per week although social events will push this up. the salary will cover all of this but the first month when you may have to pay a deposit, rent and food before you have been paid musty be planned for as this could cost upwards of £2000 all factors combined.
It is the centre if London there is no shortage of any event of type of pub at any price
There were limited out of hours activates provided but I was only at the company for 10 weeks during the summer period. I have heard there is a lot more provided during Autumn and Winter which any employee can look to get involved in. I went to omid year comms and several dtrink nights with my team.
