    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Learned more than I thought possible in 10 weeks and made loads of really good friends along the way. Always found the work to be innovative and exciting, whilst also having a real impact on actual live systems. Great working environment with great colleagues aswell which were all very helpful and supportive.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Immediately was involved with colleague social occasions and all conversations. Felt like an important part of the team with all my opinions and contributions being taken by everyone. In general all colleagues were very nice, supportive and always there to help no matter how stupid or repetitive the questions you ask them.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Manager always provided support and feedback when I asked for it. Was very helpful and guided me throughout the internship helping me learn as much as possible. Other supervisors I had were equally as supportive and helpful. Always letting me know what I need to do and how so never bored or blocked.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very good balance or work and social life. Never had to stay behind later than usual except on very few occasions. Never felt overwhelmed by the amount of work or pressure, but always had something to do or learn. Overall a very good balance of work load and time invested.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Worked on real products that were being deployed showing the level of responsibility given. Also not babysitter throughout the internship so I was responsible for my own time and getting work done accordingly. All contributions in team meetings also taken into consideration so a certain level of responsibility in the team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Learnt more in this 10 weeks than my last year of uni. Some modules next year I've probably already learned. Also the time management and software dev life cycle knowledge ive gained will no doubt help not only in the rest of uni, but in the rest of working life in general.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Office is very friendly and lively. Everyone happy to help at all times and will make time for you if you ask. Also the whiteboards on all the walls, direct sunlight and colours made it a very innovative, trendy and uplifting atmosphere. Always snacks aswell which is always a bonus.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very organised, induction was seamless. Lots of events and socials set up throughout the internship so always things to go to. Also a senior speaker series where you can go and listen to a senior member of staff which provided great insight. Overall very well set up and organised internship.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of training to do at the start of the internship and throughout regarding work place rules and regulations. Also provided resources for your own development so you can learn as much or as little as you want in technical/soft skills. Overall, they provided countless opportunities to learn and improve yourself.

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment (grad scheme) is very appealing and I got a job with them! It's very competitive has very exciting opportunities and prospects. There are countless ways to grow and get involved with JP Morgan so can see myself staying here for a long time. ( such as events, societies, etc)

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Very good social scene, everyone very friendly and always want a chat. Loads of intern social nights and bbq lunches so everyone made really good friends with each other. Very good social scene with other colleagues aswell, even playing mini golf and going for drinks after work with them. So overall near perfect.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Did not live in the area so cannot comment on that. Socialising not too expensive, local wetherspoons always helps and the clubs were not too pricey either. Bbqs and meals out were not too pricey either so socialising as a whole was cheap and fun. Heard from others that there is cheap accomodation here aswell.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Loads of clubs and bars, always a night out every Friday and Saturday so plenty of time to explore them all. Clubs have good atmospheres with relatively cheap drinks so overall the nightlife was really good. Also loads of kebab shops so always places open to get some food early in the morning.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Loads if BRGs (societies) to get involved in and countless other society like groups such as football, rugby... . Also lots of charity opportunities aswell such as the corporate responsibility day we took part in for the RSPB. Other charities always come into the atrium and you can get involved with them there.
