The Role
I really enjoyed my intership. It was interesting getting experience in an area I previously knew nothing about and my team I worked with were very welcoming anf friendly. I would definitely recommend an internship at Aon to other students.
I got on well with everyone on my team and they made me feel welcome. There is a good community spirit at Aon and it was great getting to socialise with work colleagues outside of the office too.
I was given a lot of support throughout my internship, both from fellow colleagues and my manager. I was encouraged to ask questions frequently and no question was deemed silly.
The work load varied a lot through the internship. I would have some really busy days or even weeks, followed by some slow days with not much work to get on with. The Social Impact Project was helpful in this sense as it meant you could spend more time on that if your team didn't have lots of work for you to do.
As the internship went on and I got to know my colleagues and manager better, I was given more responsibility and more work to do as they knew I was capable.
The training I received and the skills I developed throughout my internship will definitely help me post-degree. I learnt a lot of industry specific knowledge as well as more transferable skills.
The Company
There was a great atmosphere in the office, espicially in my team. You are encouraged to enjoy yourself whilst getting your work done and rewarded for good work. It was a relaxed yet professional atmosphere. The smart-casual dress code and dress down fridays made it more relaxed.
The intership was well organised, with group training days at the beginning of the scheme where you had the opportunity to meet fellow interns. There were weekly meetings and also a celebration towards the end which finished the internship off well. There could have been some more structure thoughout the 9 weeks and potentially better organisation prior to the internship - I found out I had an interview 3 days before the assessment day.
The company do invest in you and give you relevant training. It is more a focus on completely your mandatory training than your personal development specifically.

I would definitely love to have a future job offer with Aon. From the 9 weeks you I can tell they would be a great company to work for. They also seem to have lots of opportunities to move around within the company which is appealing.
The Culture
We had a few opportunities to socialise with other interns and also organised lunches etc among the interns in the same office. There were also lots of opportunities to socialise with my team which is fun and also a good way to get to know your colleagues in an informal setting.
The cost of socialising depended on which office I was working in. If I was working in the London office, socialising was inevitably move expensive than it would be in the Chelmsford office. It was never too expensive and I was never made to feel like I had to buy everyone a round of drinks if I couldn't afford it.
There are opportunities to have a night out if you want.
There were some opportunities but most involved eating and drinking rather than other activities as such.
