The Role
I really enjoyed my internship at Bank of America Merrill Lynch because it allowed me to discover many desks of the trading floor. Overall the employees were available to answer my questions. Even though the internship was very demanding I would do it again and recommend it to other students.
It really depended on the different desks I have been on. for two rotations out of three I felt valued by my colleagues but it was not the case for the third one. Each rotation lasting only three weeks it allowed me not to stay too long in this team.
We were given abundant support and guidance by the management and the human resources team. It felt good to be well supervised and accompanied during the internship. On the desks I cannot give a general comment, it really depended on each team member but overall I did not feel left alone.
The internship is very demanding and my projects were rather heavy but it allowed me to show my abilities to my teams. It was not the case for all interns, it depends on the teams you work with. A position in global markets is always going to imply long hours at the office.
Because you do not stay long on the desk you cannot really take part of the day to day tasks of the desks but overall I think that the most dynamic and motivated you are the more your team is going to give you responsibilities. It all depends on you.
I learnt a lot during this internship, being able to exchange with so many people is priceless. It allowed me to see the theoretical knowledge I learnt in class being put into practice as well as understand that in reality things always differ from theory. The internship also forced me to be less shy and to go talk to people, and this is an essential skill in life.
The Company
I loved the atmosphere at the office. It felt really global with people coming from so many different countries and speaking so many different languages. It was so enriching to be able to exchange with them, at the end of the day I was not sure I was still in France anymore !
The organization is spotless, we are well accompanied at every step during the recruitment process and after. I always had an interlocutor who answered my questions rather quickly. Moreover, when I arrived for my first day at the office I had all the tools I needed (access, software, phone...), everything was very smooth. In a word: Perfect!
We had many trainings on several subjects: finance, personal development, diversity and inclusion... I have done several internships before and it is the first time that I feel so much investment from the company and employees in the interns. We often hear that if you want to learn the company will accompany you in the recruitment process, it felt really that way here.

I do not know yet if I will be offered a job here but they do recruit and not roll on interns as other banks. Overall it is clear that the employment prospects are much better at Bank of America Merrill Lynch than in any other organizations I worked on before.
The Culture
We really liked each other, helped each other and often went to grab a drink together after work. The human resources team encouraged such behavior by organizing events for us as well, strengthening our friendships. The very good atmosphere between us really helped me go through the internship and I know I have made friends.
Paris is not the cheapest city but not the costlier one.
There are several bars in the area but if you want a real nightlife you will have to go a bit further away from the office
Not much, but we did have Yoga classes at the office if we wanted to exercise.
