The Role
Over the past 10 weeks, I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship with JP Morgan. I have gained loads of experience about tech in the finical world. Some improvements I might suggest though would be to have more planning from managers about what we were to do when we came up here and also addition workshops and training
From all senior members of staff I have felt very welcome and valued by them. However, from the interns this has been mixed. Within my team, I have had to deal with an intern who has been very arrogant and disrespectful and from some other intern have had to put up with my inappropriate behavior
Loads - my manager has been extremely supportive of me in whatever I have done and I couldn't have asked for much more from him. He has gone above and beyond to help me with whatever issue I have had
Each day was different - some were very busy and others were much quieter. To be honest as long as you managed your time successfully you weren't too busy
I was giving loads of responsibility within my placement here and was always a core member in the decisions made for the project
I have learned a lot for my internship - a fair amount honestly I probably won't use within my degree as they are specific development styles that will only be used in industry as in university you do projects individually instead of in teams. Although I can try incorporate some of these styles within my university studies
The Company
Good atmosphere generated from a good staff moral although from one difficult team mate sometimes this atmosphere could quickly be dropped
I think it was well organized - there was only maybe a couple of slight oversights that cause us some delay
This company has put loads of investment into there staff by provide loads of different support and mentor as well as tons in training including online website subscriptions and learning workshops
Flexi Time
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Travel loan
There's clearly loads that this company has to offer in the way of industrial placements and graduate positions to then go on the good jobs in the company afterwards
The Culture
Yes, as I had several intern nights out both organised through the company or by ourselves
I commute from home - the trains very quite expensive. Knowing Glasgow I know the flat prices are fairly average (maybe slightly expensive for what you get). Again for socializing you can find cheap activities to do
Very good - Glasgow has always be an amazing city for it's night life
Other than the 3 intern events organised by the company there was no activities I knew of to participate in
