Summer intern Review

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at LCP. The bright, vibrant and friendly culture meant that I was excited to come in every day and see what new tasks I would be doing. LCP has a great social culture and as an intern, I felt very welcome. LCP had a summer party where you could meet people from across the firm and it was great fun!

Everyone at LCP are so friendly. I felt that during my time at LCP I could go up to anyone of any level and ask them for advice or ask any questions. People constantly give you feedback on your work and are very appreciative of the work you do for them.

I was assigned a buddy in my team at the start of my internship. This was great because I could talk to someone who went through the same situation to me and to also have someone to ask for guidance, particularly when I didn't understand tricky technical concepts at the beginning.

I always had something to do but it was the perfect amount! I never felt overwhelmed but at the same time I was never bored. Even during quiet times, I was given two projects to do on the side. I found that the more experienced I became during the internship, people from different teams started to come up to me and give me work.

During the internship I was given a lot of client work and this had quite a lot of responsibility. This consisted of working out direct calculations by hand and also using Excel and LCP's software. It was a great opportunity to be given the same work that a graduate would be doing when they first start.

The main skill I have developed the most has been using Excel. Before coming to LCP, I had minimal knowledge on how to use excel formulae and to create functions. However, since I used Excel every day I feel as though I have really improved my knowledge which will be hugely beneficial for when I start a graduate job.

It is a very friendly atmosphere around the office with people happy to help with anything. The office has a strong emphasis on teamwork which makes it a very positive place to work. It is very upbeat and you can tell that everyone working here enjoys their work. The atmosphere is never stressful.

It is very organised. The interns were sent many different documents that told us what to expect when we started our internship, including a timetable of the training we would receive. During the internship we were given a mid internship catch up and also we get given feedback on our presentation for our project.

They invest a lot in each intern. They want to see you develop as part of your internship which is why they gave us a project to research over 6 weeks and then to present it. Initially, in training, we had to do a 5 minute presentation and then were given feedback. We then tried to improve our public speaking for our project presentation.

I would love to work at LCP. I have spoken to many people who joined years ago and haven't moved jobs because of the way that LCP treats their employees. It also has a great social environment and I believe that is such an important aspect in order for people to work well in teams.

There are lots of socials throughout the year. During my first week I had a welcome lunch,welcome drinks and a dinner. This meant that I got to know my colleagues in a more informal way and was a great opportunity to experience what it is like to work at LCP. There was also a good social scene amongst interns. We had a lunch out together and organised drinks together after work.

It was quite expensive but worth it for being in London! If you want to buy lunch, it will cost more than elsewhere and the same for social activities. For example, going to bars after work can be quite expensive but I think the pay of the internship out ways the expense of living

The area I worked in was good for bars and pubs but didn't have many good clubs because it is Marylebone in London

There are lots of social activities you could get involved in at LCP. There are sports teams that compete: Netball and Football team. This year, people from LCP went to a few cricket games. There is also a cooking class where you can learn how to make lots of different types of food.
