The Role
Very much enjoyed, work was challenging but other staff always helpful. Work also interesting and got to develop my skills in Excel and coding which I wanted to do. The office was fairly relaxed and in general the people were friendly. I would recommend to my friends as it was enjoyable and I learnt a lot.
Mostly nice, but a couple that I didn't get on with so well which made some parts of the job harder. Overall positive though. I did feel like the work I was doing was making a difference and so felt valued in that sense. My colleagues used the work I did and so they were relying on my work being good
Whenever I needed help with something they were always available or pointed me to someone who could help. Despite my official manager taking 2 weeks paternity leave, the other managers stepped in and were just as helpful in guiding me to the right people or solutions, which still left a challenge but were always there to support me.
On a day to day basis, my workload varied a lot in that, some days I would have work to satisfy me for the entire day while on other days I would have to askfor work as I had none to do. Mainly to do with getting unlucky with client allocation though
Felt like a lot of responsibility as at some points I was doing the entire report for a client, although it was checked by others to reduce errors. Pretty much every piece of work I did was then used for a client or within the team and a lot of it was left to me to check and complete on time.
I would say that the skills I developed are unlikely to help me in my degree, but that they will almost certainly help with my future careers, in terms of knowledge of Excel but also the networking skills that I have picked up and my understanding of the structure of companies.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was all in all welcoming, and I almost always felt accepted as part of the team from right at the beginning of the internship. The colleagues in the office were helpful whenever I did not understand something and the work I was given was interesting.
Before the internship began, the system by which I could claim refunds for travel expenses was poorly set up which was frustrating. However once the internship began the structure of the whole thing was well designed and there was always a clear plan of goals which I definitely appreciated a lot.
In general the department in which I was working spent a lot of time making sure I understood all of the tasks I was being handed. The department helped me a lot to develop my skills and gave me tasks that were achievable but still challenging to a certain extent.

The Culture
The structure of the internship allowed for some allotted time with the other interns and placement students which they paid all the drinks for. This meant that in general I got on well with all of the other interns, although at times I might have liked a couple more socials with all the interns.
