The Role
The internship was a great experience because I had the chance to work on real projects and have an impact on the work that we do here in the team. I was also able to carry out a variety of relevant tasks that allowed me to gather my first "real" work experience outside of university for those which was great.
My immediate colleagues were all nice and included me as a full team member from day one. As we are a very small team I felt that sometimes did not help in creating "a family like" feeling - this has more to do with being very isolated from other teams in the company which I think would be nice if that would change.
My manager always looked out for me and had a plan for what my tasks were supposed to be. I would have wished for more regular feedback sessions - that was something that fell a bit short and did not happen unless I would ask for it. However I do appreciate that my manager had a lot of faith in my skills.
I do like a very busy and hectic environment with pressing deadlines which was not always given in my team. On the one hand that is a good thing but not the environment that I strive in the best so for my personal liking there could have been more work to deal with.
There were some tasks were "I was running the show" and there wereothers were I was just assisting which I guess is a good balance for an intern. Sometimes the process was not quite clear and so it would have been nice to get a bit more guidance on that.
It was a very valuable experience that assisted me in gaining skills for certain tasks. As I am finishing up my studies it will help me as an entry into the market, now having projects that I worked on to look back to. It also helped me to see that I did gain very valuable skills during my degree.
The Company
The social team makes sure that there are always some events going on but in general I find people keep to themselves a lot and it's not very social.
There could have been some more guidance on stuff like taxes - the payroll at my job wasn't very helpful and moving over from a different country you don't really know how things work so I would have appreciated a little intro.
I was able to fly to San Francisco for a conference which was an awesome opportunity

The Culture
We would meet for lunch quite a bit which was nice - it helped feeling less isolated in the office.
London is one of the most expensive cities in the world when it comes to cost of living.
there's quite a couple of bars around - mainly directed for after work drinks/dinners
There were a few after work drinks and also stuff like social responsibility days (coming up) which I think are great initiatives
