The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Savills. There was plenty of work for me to help with and I got a well rounded experience.
The whole office welcomed me and made sure I felt comfortable at all times.
The talked me through the processes of day to day work at Savills but were more than willing to help me understand a new project when I needed help.
There was always something for me to do, even if it was menial. There was very few occasions that I found myself with nothing to do.
To begin with I didn't have much responsibility but as my confidence increased with the work I was put onto projects that were more important, even if my work was always checked by a surveyor.
The skills I learnt will help me in future jobs by understanding office culture and furthering my understading of windows. The knowledge I developed will help me better understand the contents of my course. I learnt key skills that are a necessity for real estate such as extracting information from a lease which will cut down my training time at my next job.
The Company
The office was fun with a friendly atmosphere. There were events such as office rounders where everyone made sure everyone was included.
There was a good stream of work provided for me. The mid placement update and emails ensured HR were in the loop and there was good structure so you didn't feel lost. The online presentations were also well spread out and meant you learnt more than what is just at your office.
I felt like Savills went out of their way to make sure I gained the most out of the experience and not just use me for simple office jobs. The connection with HR and online presentations showed the company had invested time and effort into their interns.
Company Parties/Events
Savills as a firm is very attractive to me and I will definitely be applying for the 2020 graduate scheme with them.
The Culture
There were no other interns in my office but colleagues still went out of their way to invite me to lunch and after work activities.
Reading is a relatively cheap location compared to the likes of London.
There is a good variety of places to go to meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy.
There were a couple of events put on by the office but not very often.
