The Role
My internship at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch was really good. The internship was very well structured with a broad range of trainings, conferences and networking events. The work atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, everyone is so willing to sit down with you and answer any questions. supportive. I was given the chance to work on significant projects and tasks.
My team and colleagues were encouraging and supportive. I felt part of the team very quickly and was abble to work on significant projects and make an impact. My teammates were also always willing to provide me with feedback after work done, which was essential to improve skills and enlarge knowledge.
Throughout the internship, I was giving a lot of support and guidance by my supervisors and managers. I had mid and final reviews, which are extremly useful to get constructive feedbacks. Moreover, I had regular catch ups with my supervisors to keep them updated on the work I was doing.
During my internship, as I was working for two teams, I was quite busy. My work was divided between long term projects and daily tasks with different level of priority. Even I was working on many different things at the same time, I was always given time to perform the work.
I was given a significant level of responsibility during my internship by working a significant and important project within the team. In addition, my team made me feel useful and included. By helping them on daily tasks I could see and understand better what their job was like and how they interact with other teams.
During the internship, we attended regular training sessions usefull within our corresponding business lines but also other business lines to get a full understanding on the different divisions within the bank. The training sessions were technical and will be usefull in my further business studies. Furthemore, the internship is also an excellent opportunity to develop soft skills such as communication skills, team work, organization ...
The Company
The atmosphere in the London office is very good. The teams are international and diverse, with people from very different background. While you integrate to the team and build close relationships, you can also feel the dynamism of a financial hub where everything is happening which creates, from my point of view the perfect balance.
The overall intersnhip is very well organised between training sessions, netwoking events with business people from different divisions and different level of seniority but also networking with the other interns. We could also attend conferences. HR and your team also makes sure to provide meaningfull feedbacks during mid and final reviews. Furtheremore, having a staffer in my team helped in the allocation of projects and work.
The bank invests a lot in the interns through training sessions: first week of training but also weekly technical trainings. What suprises me the most is the time people invest in you by simply talking about their careers, providing guidance, giving advicing or running through a specific piece of work.
Company Parties/Events
Future employment prospects within the organisation are excellent. The firm is keen on carrer mobility including internal mobility (moving from different parts of the bank) but also international mobility which is particlarly attractive. In addition, both Human Ressources and the team invest in your career developement and skills amd knowledge improvement.
