    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • though I had quite a lot of work to do and I stayed sometimes for long hours, I enjoyed every bit of it. My team was friendly and made me feel welcomed since my first day even though I was the youngest member. There have been lots of socials parties and networking sessions organised.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I really felt that I made an impact on my project, I was given freedom of choice in designing the application that I was working on when I joined. My colleagues offered me support and guidance when needed, and shared their knowledge with me. What I implemented for the application was deployed and put into production.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We were assigned two mentors, having their constant support and meeting them by-weekly. Furthermore, the HR was always happy to help and also we were encouraged to speak up when needed. My team was super friendly. I also received help from the other interns, all you need to do is ask for help!

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I barely had a couple of days when I could breathe more than 5 minutes. I was assigned many tasks and I was happy to solve them. I would not have preferred to not be busy because I came to learn and invest into my development. Furthermore, I also had time to network and attend events but not all of them.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was in the charge of the design of the application and in the charge of finding and solving bugs so I’d say quite a lot of responsibility. But throughout the internship I received constant help and support so I was able to solve even the tasks that were above my technical skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was quite relaxed, the dress stile is business-casual but you are very welcomed to come to work dressed in a par of jeans and a T-shirt and sneakers. There are a few places that you can go for a coffee or to play a board game and also to get food.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was seamless organised! The human recruiter did a very good job bu organising lots of social events and networking, for meeting both seniors and executive directors as well as the other interns. Lots of opportunities for training and for speaking up when needed. Also we did have a corporate responsibility day which made an impact outside of the firm.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had the opportunity to take learning courses online on a wide range of subjects. I used this within my first week of work in order to gain more trust in what I am required to do. Also your colleagues can be considered training methods as well. Being part of a team and having assigned a task is the best training that you can receive.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There have been three social parties organised by the human recruiter, all of them within different locations. They provided food, drinks, dessert, good music and good people.I managed to meet every other intern and became friends with the majority of them. We gathered everyday to take lunch together and also outside of work.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The are is quite expensive because it is placed at the sea side. The company offered a good amount of money for relocation which definitely helped. We did not limit ourselves to go out due to the spendings cost. But you can find many good places where you can get a free drink for a meal so that helps too.
