The Role
The internship was really good, I was given a lot of valuable work to do. The budget was being settled for quite some time, and many of my colleagues have had a lot of time off, so during these periods, I wish that I was given more to do. Also if I could have been given some guidance on whom I could shadow and how to go about this, this would have been really valuable.
The work that I was given was very valuable, and was really good for my development. I am building models and reporting weekly which is useful to the business.
My managers were really good at delegating and supporting me when I needed it. The work was challenging, especially when I needed to build things from scratch, but I would be given pointers if I got stuck and feedback on how to improve for next time.
It varied depending on what time of the week - on Monday and Tuesday I was horribly busy, compared with being at a loss to what I should do on Thursdays and Fridays.
I was given responsibility over the tasks that I have been delegated.
I have greatly developed my Excel skills, which I am very excited to use in daily life and try and develop over the course of the year before my next internship. I have developed time management, organisational skills, checking work thoroughly and communication. I will work on the areas that I am still unsatisfied with though.
The Company
Good. People seem to have a good work/life balance, and they seem happy. It is relatively easy to talk to people, if you need help then people will go out of their way to help you.
Quite organised. There were some elements that were really bad such as IT. For me to logon to my computer properly, it took two weeks, which is absolutely ridiculous. The IT is about 5-10 years out of date, and to get anything sorted out, you have to call up IT, get your complaints escalated and ask to speak to the manager multiple times before they will be able to solve your problem. The aspects organised by my team were very good though.
The internship is not as well paid as those from many other places. But they take on many more interns.

The grad scheme seems to be really good, and I would be really happy to be able to get onto it. Being able to be promoted looks quite optimistic, and the atmosphere in the company is nice.
The Culture
Yes
They booked out accommodation for the interns which is really good as it lowers the amount of stress during exam times, which is when I would have to do this instead. Living with other interns with the same schedule is really fun and good to make friends. Everything you make you can keep. I would have been quite hard for some students if they had to put down a deposit and then not receive their first paycheck until the second Friday unless they planned really well.
I don't really care for it.
