The Role
Internship is quite nicely setup, I have learnt a lot in the department I was placed in. But most importantly, I am really impressed by the colleague and friendly cultures with my team.
As stated above, my team has been really welcoming and lovely towards me.
I would rate it 10 out of 10, since I do not like being micro-managed and I believe that my supervisor has given me the right amount of guidance and support while giving me the opportunity to discover and explore the company and objectives myself.
I manage my own schedule and I would say I have overstretch myself during my time there because I wanted to achieve more, however if you only consider the essential then overall I think it's well balanced.
It was alright for me. I would say they have given me reasonable amount of responsibility as an intern. And they gave you a lot of freedom in developing your own objectives.
The skills I developed mainly are soft skills, which are not really relevant with my degree studies however definitely going to be skills for life.
The Company
Cool, chill and really casual. Considering that this is a bank but also a technology centre, the culture here is definitely very lenient and everyone is really friendly.
In terms of organisation it could be really improved. Not only promised documents were never sent on time, schedules are poorly arranged (i.e. Breaks on events were scheduled with 0 minutes duration) and to the last few weeks, no one was supervising or hosting the event at all as the 'event' went on.
They have organised talks in different sectors and areas so we can understand better in how the banking sector works together in terms of horizontal and vertical.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Working from home
Grad schemes opportunity will be confirmed and offered a week after the internship, so it is pretty good.
The Culture
Us interns are quite sociable and we are all have weekly gathering events, including cricket matches and just weekend gatherings. So yes.
Knutsford is middle of nowhere, it's really difficult to socialise and most people just go straight home or live somewhere furtheraway.
Like stated above, this is campus based technology centre so there's no such thing as nightlife unless you live away.
There are a lot of different networking group such as diversity and spectrum (LGBT+), crickets and even volunteering in the branch or local area. I
