The Role
My placement was overall really good. My team was very welcoming and gave me a lot of work to do, which I liked as it meant I developed a lot of skills.
My team was welcoming and trusted me to get on with all the tasks they set me. They consistently gave me feedback and were supportive in helping my develop my skillset. I felt like I was able to contribute a lot and they valued my input.
The main person giving me work to do and guidance changed over the course of my internship depending when people took holidays and how much work they had, etc. However, everyone I worked with was very supportive. There were very few days where I was sat with nothing to do.
I was given plenty to do and was rarely sat at my desk bored. There were odd days where I didn't have much on, usually because there wasn't really anything I was able to help with or because my colleagues were all in meetings for the day. They always tried to give me something to do though.
I was given a fair bit of responsibility, increasingly more as the internship progressed, which was nice as it showed that my colleagues trusted me and thought the work I had been doing was of a good standard. They did always check my work and provide feedback, which I understand as I am less experienced and it was helpful to know where I could improve, but in terms of responsibility I guess that brings the score down a bit.
I think I have learned a lot during this internship. My hard skills have improved - I was competent on things like PowerPoint and Excel prior to the internship but I am even more confident on them now. I also feel like my communication and presentation skills have developed. My confidence in the work I do has also increased and I feel more able to take on challenges outside my comfort zone.
The Company
Everyone was really nice and the office atmosphere was always upbeat, encouraging, and helpful. My team were extremely welcoming and friendly. We frequently went out together after work for drinks or dinner, or met for breakfast before work started. We had Whatsapp chats and I was invited to all of the team events.
Fairly well organised. There was an issue getting me a laptop and setting it up at the start, but I think that was mostly an IT problem. My team had a basic idea of what sort of work I would be undertaking, but obviously you can't plan for everything and there were times where they were a bit stuck for work to give me. They always tried to find me something to do though.
My team encouraged me to create a development plan and asked me if there was anything in particular I wanted to work on or improve my skills in.

Good! This internship has been a really good experience overall and I have enjoyed working for this organisation. The only issue is that we found out very late what the referral process onto the graduate scheme would involve. This was especially difficult as it was different to the process in previous years and left little time to think things over. The new process also makes it harder to secure a place, so more notice about the change would have been nice.
The Culture
Pretty good. All the other interns were really nice and we sometimes did have a good social scene outside of work. However, on a previous internship the social scene was a lot better and the interns interacted with each other more.
Quite expensive, but that was expected being in London.
It was good, but also expensive (again, this was expected being in London).
If there were, I didn't know about them.
