The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed being back at the same project in a different phase. I learnt a lot and was great to meet some more people to network with.
I was made to feel welcome from the beginning and was trusted with packages of works.
I was able to get some really helpful advice regarding chartership and also advice on dissertation projects that would be suitable for me.
There was more than one placement student/apprentice which meant the work was spread between us. This meant that I was not always as busy I would have liked to have been.
I was given a package of works and trusted with this works, despite not being particularly large scale, it was really useful to see the works through until completion.
The surveying especially will help me with my degree and modules in future. The placement will be very beneficial for future work post graduation.
The Company
Really great atmosphere in the office, everyone was delightful to work with and were extremely helpful when answering any questions I had
I was busy most of the time, but didn't always have work to do- hence I had to ask for some more work to do. Overall it was well organised and I had substantial pieces of work to complete and get involved with.
I completed the 6151 tunnel entry training whilst on my placement, and was given some help with paperwork involved with chartership
Subsidised Canteen
Healthcare/Dental
Travel loan
I am very keen to work for the company once I graduate.
The Culture
Being based in London it was easy to be able to go for a drink or socialise after work with work colleagues.
Cost of living in London is very expensive, so I opted for a longer commute but living at home with my parents. London prices for socialising are also expensive.
Nightlife in London is very good, but was unable to enjoy much of it due to my long commute.
There were some sporting activities organised for after work and also some social events and pub visits.
