The Role
I really enjoyed my internship during this summer. The experience was amazing, the team I was part of treated me really well, I got involved in three projects so I had the chance to explore different sides of the business, the people I met during the summer were all really friendly, open and eager to help. The overall experience was the best I could have had!
As mentioned before, the team I was a part of treated me as an equal member of the team and not as an 'intern'. They were explaining me everything I was asking and they made me feel part of the team and of the whole organisation. Within the team, we also organised some team learning sessions, where I had the chance to totally be responsible for them which made me feel that i contributed a lot to the team.
My manager's desk was exactly next to mine and he had told me every time I needed anything or had a question to ask him. So, he was really supporting throughout my internship and he was giving me clear guidelines of what I had to do. He was also giving me opportunities to talk to more senior people and present my work to them.
Generally, there was a really good balance. During the day I had to do some work, we had a lot of opportunities for training, we had infobyte sessions, lunch and learn sessions and many more. There were other days I was busier than the normal but that's something totally normal.
I think I was given much responsibility compared to my role and especially compared to the little period I had to adapt to the role and to the company. I got involved in three different projects and had the chance to present them to the stakeholders of my team, that most of them are quite senior people.
In terms of skills, I developed exactly what I had to develop after university especially in the field I am mastering which is Analytics. I had more or less the technical background which of course I developed more and I learned how to apply everything in practice, in the 'real world'. I learned and got much advice on how to build a storyline based on my analysis and present it in an efficient manner to a non so technical audience.
The Company
Generally, the atmosphere in the office was super nice and everyone was quite relaxed and funny. We had many fun times and many funny discussions which made me feel amazingly. The culture of the company is great and someone can easily adapt and be a part of the Expedia family!
The internship was super well organised. The whole process before and during the internship was very well structured. In the first week of the internship my manager explained me how things are working and what he is expecting from me. The HR organised so many things for us during the summer and literally we couldn't get bored at all!
We had a lot of training along with the other interns and also within my team. So, I had the chance to learn a lot not only in terms of technical skills but also in terms of soft skills. But apart from the formal trainings I think that the most valuable for me was my manager explaining me personally how I could further develop my work.

I would definitely stay if I didn't have another offer from before that interests me a lot. The company is great, the culture is amazing, the people are fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
The Culture
The relationship with the other interns was really good. They organised quite a lot of events during the summer that made us become friends and get along with each other. Also the relationship with my colleagues within my team was great and I am really sorry I leave them.
It was representative of socialising in London. Neither extremely cheap nor extremely expensive.
I didn't really go out in the night near the area the office was, because I am living far away from the office.
Quite a lot of opportunities, from volunteering to getting involved in social games and activities.
