    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Doing a work placement was probably one of the best decisions I made while at university and I am very thankful it was compulsory with my university (Aston) as otherwise I may have not done one. However I am very grateful I did as I’ve picked up many skills and made a lot of friends to go back to uni with

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • At my placement with Enterprise I was given a huge amount of responsibility and as a result I was an integral part of the team from day one and valued by my employer and my colleagues in the branch. My colleagues would often come to me for advice on a subject even though I was an intern which felt great!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Throughout my placement I was given a lot of guidance from my management team and supervisors and a huge amount of training. I mentioned that I was given a lot of responsibility in my position from day 1 but this was not without support and training beforehand to be able to complete my tasks to a high standard

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was never a dull day with enterprise rent a car and every single day was different. I was constantly busy but in a good way, my days would fly by and were packed with variety to keep my challenged and feeling valued which is all I really wanted from a position and not be sat at a desk for 9 hours as many jobs are

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I mentioned previously that the amount of responsibility I was given from day 1 was a massive part of me really enjoying my placement and wanting to come back to the company after completing my degree studies. I wasn’t just an intern I was a fully fledged and trusted employee of Enterprise responsible of managing large projects and making vital day to day decisions

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The life skills I have picked up with Enterprise during my placement are invaluable to my studies when I go back to university in September. I have developed leaps and bounds in leadership, people management and over coming problems as this is what I’ve dealt with on a daily basis for the last year and these skills will transfer directly to my remaining studies when working within diverse teams at uni

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The cliche/quote gets used a lot in the business world but we worked hard and played hard. One of Enterprises founding values is a similar philosophy in that “we work hard and reward hard work” and the general atmosphere was that we would get the job done but would have a fun time doing it. This includes many social events with other employees of the company

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The organisation of the placement is one of the best parts of the placement itself as everything is structured the same for interns as it is for management trainees meaning you are learning to become a a manger and not just get a years work experience. You complete management competency stage tests throughout your 12 months which upon completion class you as management ready. It really is a great way to get something valuable from your work life

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Enterprise is a company that invests heavily in its employees through training and development and as mentioned prior they promote hard work and reward hard work. Throughout your placement journey you aren’t just seen as another person to work into the ground like with some companies. You are trained and developed to be the next generation of management to lead the company to greater successes and this comes from a lot of investment by enterprise

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Enterprise rent a car is a company that only promotes internally meaning that any job within the organisation has potential to be your job in the future providing you work hard and excel within the organisation. Enterprise bases their promotion not on time served with the company but pure raw ability meaning that if you are the best you’ll be rewarded for it

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Outside of work most employees were good friends and partook in social events such as meals out and events after good performances or to discuss improvements. Furthermore myself and others have played in arranged football matches in the past between areas and promoting friendly competition which was great for getting to know the others on more than just a professional level

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I worked in the area local to my house and wasn’t required to relocate meaning I can’t comment on the cost of living in the area as it’s where I’ve lived all along. However I will note that with Enterprise being a multinational corporation there is offices everywhere all over the UK and the rest of the world meaning there will always be a branch local and that is affordable but obviously this varies massively with where you live

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • My office was close to Birmingham meaning there was many opportunities for nights out and nightlife with colleagues and friends in the local area. However as I said previously Enterprise is in many locations and this will differ greatly but potential employees will always be looked after and helped into finding the right location to work in for what they want

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The inter area football competitions were a big part of the activities I partook in outside of work as that’s what interested me and was a great way of socialising with likeminded colleagues who I may not have had much interaction with before. There is always something for everyone though if you don’t like football or even sports
