The Role
It was enjoyable, I had the opportunity to explore BTS widely, experiencing and completing work across many divisions, giving me the opportunity to understand where my skill set fits in.
Very valued, I was able to manage a backlog and chair meetings. I contributed to divisions leaving changes to work policy, pieces of work which will be used after I leave.
Minimal, I spent most of my time being independent organising my tasks and balancing my workload. I did have the opportunity to ask for help whenever needed, but I did work as an individual for most of my tasks.
Busy mainly, but there was periods of downtime my work involved sourcing new tasks for each division once I had completed work. This lead to some slow responses with people being busy which did lead to times where I had not much work but then periods when I had to much.
Lots, I dealt with a backlog, evolve, CoP, and service management. Some of these roles I was a intermediate taking over a task and people had left or moved department.
The knowledge of IT will be beneficial, however my degree is engineering these skills will not be heavily transferable. But I have definitely narrowed down my career opportunities and worked on industry leading technology, developing diverse technology skills.
The Company
busy and exciting, people are approachable and someone can always provide support if needed.
It was okay, my line manager allowed my internship to be successful giving me the opportunity to network and gain tasks. Other areas where not well arranged.
There was definite investment in terms of giving me the opportunity to explore and develop technically.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Very appealing, this internship has allowed me to narrow my ideas of what industry I want to work in.
The Culture
yes, most interns ate lunch together and took part in events outside of work. We where all very friendly.
East end, was very expensive, as is everywhere in London. There is options for cheaper socialising but this does require some research on where to go.
London, so a whole host of different bars, clubs and places to eat. Just expensive but the salary can rectify this issue.
The FCA offer a range of outside activities, including charitable work, places to eat, sports clubs and other social events.
