    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did enjoy my internship quite a lot. I got the opportunity to work from home so I could balance my work and my education in an effective manner and it felt more like extra work than anything else but it was quite useful in providing me with lots of experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did not feel very valued by my colleagues. This is because I worked from home so did not really get to meet them apart from at meetings at the office. This meant that I was quite detached from the office life so I did not get a chance to meet them and get to know them.

    2/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidance. When my tasks were set, my supervisor would always provide me with guidance to help me to ensure I would make the best design possible. He also gave me advice on how to improve for next time and he also asked me to send in my work at various stages of development so he could advise me and review it so far.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis, I was never really bored but rather always had something to do as I had to study for university as well as do the work set for me and it never feel like too much. This is a great internship to take on while studying as it does not distract much.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given some responsibility during my placement. I was mainly just asked to create the designs requested by clients but these were then changed to be better by other employees so my work did not feel as valued as it had to be changed to be perfect and to protect company reputation.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that the skills I developed on graphic design will clearly be invaluable as I can now create designs using technology and this will be useful in the future. Also, I think that this experience will provide me with something new and different from the rest of the competition.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I did not really go to the office much but rather worked at home. This meant that I could do the work in my own time which helped me balance my studies. Also, this was very helpful for me as I got to work in a comfortable environment but I also feel that I should have experienced a new environment.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think that the work placement was set up very well indeed and this is mainly because there was always communication between me and the company despite not working in the same area and I feel like this was a testament to how well organised the actual internship was set up.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that they did invest quite a bit in me. On an induction day, they introduced me to the software I would be using and trained me in using it which was very nice and very beneficial and I feel like this provided me with lifelong skills to use in the future.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    Healthcare from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely love to work with them in the future and work in the office and meet the other employees and I would imagine it would be a very nice environment to work in. Furthermore, I feel like working there played quite well with my abilities in design and made us of my talents.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was not really a social scene amongst any of us. However, this was expected as I was working from home and did not really get an opportunity to get to know them and build relationships. I would have liked more opportunities to create more relationships in the workplace at the office.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Since I got to work from home for the job, I did not need to pay for additional housing costs. I do not really know about socialising in the area near the office but it was in London so I could imagine that there would be a multitude of socialising activities at a reasonable price.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Since I did not really get to work in the office, I did not really get to experience the nightlife in the area near the office. However, the office was in London so I could again imagine that there would be a multitude of opportunities to go to different places such as bars.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few opportunities to get involved in outside of work. For example, I was invited to some company openings where they had used our company to create their logo and this was quite nice to see. Also, I was invited to an art expo where I got inspiration for some designs.

    3/5
