The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship at PwC. In particular, I have worked with some wonderful people who I hope to work with again. I look forward to returning next year for my role as a graduate.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. No one treats you like an intern, you are treated as an integrated and permanent member of the team. I felt like the work I was doing made a difference and I felt very appreciated. I also built great relationships.
I received a lot of support and felt that I could ask any questions at any time. Everyone was very supportive and friendly and this put me at ease.
Some days were busier than others but this was mostly down to awaiting information from the client. I quickly learnt that it was down to me to find my own work so this is what I did to ensure I stayed at a perfect level of business.
I was given the ideal amount of responsibility. Of course, the work I was doing was being checked but I was given my own tasks to work at my own pace. I liaised with the client when I needed to and I was given a great deal of independence.
My internship has given me transferable skills such as building relationships, managing my time, applying business acumen and technical capabilities. These will assist me not only in the remainder of my studies, but also in my future career.
The Company
I was on site for the majority of my internship and it was the perfect balance between quiet and fun. We ensured to get the work done but also have a chat and chill to re-energise ourselves.
The internship was very well organised but there was a slight lack of communication. It was essential to plan your own time and find out things for yourself so this quickly became not a problem.
The residential at the start of the internship was great. The company invested a lot of time and money and this was invaluable. We were also given laptops, phones and any other IT equipment we needed. They cannot be faulted in this regard.
Working from home
I have left my internship with a job offer. The employment prospects are very high.
The Culture
There was a good social scene amongst the other interns however my involvement was slightly limited due to being on site.
Reasonable - it is neither expensive nor cheap but the ideal balance.
Great night life in Birmingham with both bars and clubs.
Emails are sent round offering opportunities to get involved. In addition, all the interns will be attending the annual general meeting and sports day.
