The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship, the flexibility of the work really suited me and my team were all really helpful and friendly. I didn't feel like I was overworked or put under too much pressure and had a lot of support from the people around me. Overall I had a really good time.
My colleagues were all really friendly and nice to me, I felt I got to know everyone on my team to a certain extent and they made an effort to make me feel included. A lot of them made an effort to try and get me involved in proper work and not just basic tasks.
I had a lot of support from those immediately above me on my team and felt I could come to them with any questions I had whether they were about specific tasks or more general. The more senior people in my team gave me good advice and information about what a career at PwC is like.
I found that generally I would go between being quite busy and not having much to do and that this would cycle every couple of days. There were quite a lot of times where I struggled to find work but my team always tried their best to find things for me.
I was given more responsibility than I had expected before I started, e.g. performing audits and putting together reports for real clients. However every piece of work that I did was checked by at least one other person but this helped me to feel supported in what I was doing.
I think the amount of team work I've had to do will definitely prepare me well for working in groups in the future, whether that's group projects at university of jobs elsewhere. I've definitely learnt a lot about my work sector and developed my technical skills, for instance Microsoft Excel.
The Company
Very relaxed, the idea of flexible working was really emphasised within my team and I liked how chilled out everyone was. My team was a bit quiet at times and it would have been nice if everyone had chatted a bit more to each other or had a closer relationship as a group.
It was well organised, due to the flexibility of the team I was often doing different things with different people but everything was set out well. I had the opportunity to visit 2 other offices during my time on the internship and both of these trips were planned well and I was made fully aware of what was going on.
Most of my team made a conscious effort to involve me in as many different branches of work as possible so that I could experience the different tasks I would potentially have to complete if I had a career with the company in the long-term. I also received a lot of training sessions which gave me a good overview of the role and the sector.

The graduate jobs are highly sought after and generally most interns are offered one if they perform well during their time with the company. However your performance on the internship is overshadowed by your university grades as if you do not meet their requirements there they do not consider you for a position.
The Culture
There wasn't much socialising between the team and/or fellow interns, it would have been nice to do activities with everyone or even go for after work drinks a couple of times but this didn't seem to be a very big thing for my colleagues. However I did hear this was better for other lines of service.
I already lived in the area but it's not particularly cheap- it is still cheaper than places like London but definitely more expensive than most of the places up north. Rent/house prices especially are quite high but nights out and socialising is probably not too far from average for most of the UK.
The nightlife in Bristol is great, there are a load of different clubs, bars and pubs so I think most people would be able to find something they liked. There are less events going on over the summer when most of the university students have gone home but the rest of the year there's plenty.
I was only with the company for 6 weeks or so but I only came across one event outside of work which was a team BBQ. I know that the company does offer other social and sporting activities but I didn't hear about or experience any. It may be something that becomes more apparent after joining permanently.
