The Role
I did not enjoy the repetitiveness and did not feel significant during the time spent in Goldman Sachs. the projects assigned to me were very improvised and did not yield very impact results.
I feel I provided a relief from the daily tasks to my colleagues. they were grateful for my contribution
I was given support fr my daily tasks, however, my manager did not provide the necessary guidance to complete one of my projects
I was busy with daily tasks
I was given full responsibility over the daily tasks
I believe I did not gain as much new skills and knowledge as I expected prior to the internship. The knowledge I have gained is mostly based on internal tools and is not transferable to other areas.
The Company
The team is really young and works well together. i believe the atmosphere was really friendly and supportive, however, I did not feel any excitement about the job, which dragged my own motivation down. I see the motivation differs between teams, however, I did not enjoy the office as much as I was hoping. There was lack of competitiveness and drive
I felt the daily tasks were well organised as they have been the same for years. On the other hand the projects assigned to me were very improvised and guidance was lacking at times. Interns in other groups were better guided and were redoing previous projects so it was team specific. i did not have access to many of the files needed on daily basis until the end of the internship.
I believe the training provided in the fist few weeks were very useful, however, after the third week they became repetitive and daily tasks did not develop my knowledge and understanding of the business, industry nor the clients. Projects were not suited for learning either. Overall, I believe the company could invest more in my specific role
Company Parties/Events
Flexibility between teams is highly appealing so people can move easily, however, there is little flexibility in terms of location and people try to move for years, ending up with leaving the company. The salary is competitive, however, not the highest among the industry for the location. perks are better for full time employees, however, they are not well managed and I have been unable to access healthcare when in need.
The Culture
I was lucky other interns were very social and international. Everyone spoke English in the office and was inclusive and ready to make conversation. The social atmosphere among the interns made the internship more pleasant and we were given opportunities to socialise and network with full time employees . I enjoyed the social atmosphere overall.
The cost of living compared to the salary was overall good. I cannot complain regarding the intern pay.
The nightlife was good with a lot of entertainment offered to young people.
We had a volunteering event and a lot of social events organised which made the experience more pleasant.
