The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, we got to see how BT worked and travel between different sites aswell as create a worth while project, that was valued by people around BT and I generally just enjoyed every day
I was always able to talk and ask questions of everyone around me and I never felt like I wasn't welcome in the office or wanted. I got to take part in 5-aside with BT employees and go out for a meal and generally felt like I was a part of the team
On several occasions by multiple different staff I had meaningful help and advice about topics I was stuck with or how to improve and I felt like these people wanted to help
I generally very rarely felt like I didn't have anything to do, I always felt busy and knew what I had to do.
I felt like I was responsible for the project and towards the end was directing some of the other summer students and this was pleasure because I felt respected
The programming language I have learned will most likely come in useful for a module I have coming up this year
The Company
I think it was generally always really friendly and everyone was approachable and wanted to help if they could or find someone who could help
Some times I think because they were trying new things with virtualisation there was teething problems and because we were also in a tempory building this also sometimes caused issues
We had regular sessions/classes showing different topics we might not encounter
Sports and Social Club
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the people and the general idea of the stuff they work on appealed to me
The Culture
We generally all got on and often organised to eat lunch and go out together after work.
Because we were working in Gloucester because the main building was being renovated the cost of living was reasonable
There isn't much of a nightlife in Gloucester but we did go out once or twice and it was fun
I got involved in some 5-aside and there was also rock climbing and ive heard of other activities that have occured
