The Role
It was great, and a brilliant way to spend the Summer. The people around you are fantastic and the job itself is both interesting and exciting.
Very valued. The team were friendly, and supportive. Everyone provided advice and mentoring throughout the summer. I could turn to anyone with questions. I was given responsibility, and expected to deliver.
There was plenty of support throughout the ten weeks. Everyone, managers and team-members alike, provided guidance and mentoring throughout the summer. Two mid-term evals offered an opportunity to gain feedback and further advice.
Usually busy, though timings varied depending on the news beat, with news slowing according to the market movements. I would recommend using the generally slower afternoons and Thursday, Friday to work on enterprise articles.
Plenty of responsibility, including publishing earnings results, independent articles and the opportunity to pitch, research and write stories yourself.
The energy and discipline will prove useful. It has also given me confidence to work according to a working-day, rather than the normal timings for university studies.
The Company
Great. Everyone was friendly and engaging, and the Summer party certainly helped foster a lively atmosphere.
Very well organised. The communication was excellent and there was a clear road-map for how the internship was to proceed.
The company provided extensive training, with additional sessions if requested. The experience gained will prove useful throughout my professional career. Mid-term evals provided feedback and advice.

Employment here would be great, I would welcome further opportunities.
The Culture
Yes. I can count all my fellow news interns as friends, as well as colleagues.
London is an expensive city, I would budget wisely. Though the salary for the internship more than covers spending here.
Though not quite as good as Birmingham, the nightlife in London is great. Pub crawls, rather than the usual clubbing scene, is a better use of one's time, given the ban on under-21s in most bars.
Lots. It is the capital city after all.
