About You
The practical skills you learn on site are so valuable.
Towards the end I began to have more responsibilities.
Anything I didn’t understand was cleared up.
There will be some aspects for example project, where this experience will be helpful.
The Company
When needed it was given.
generally relaxed until work needed doing.
From the first day there was necessary training and tasks to put me up to speed in the workplace. An example is the first day where I was given a refresher on how to use a total station. Not only that but the tasks they can be all used for.
I got a very good impression of the company and how things work. I understood the Bentley way and how important it is to push health and safety. By acknowledging the Bentley way, it assures that you will go home safely and all other co workers will go home safely.

It was valauable as you learn the most in practical experience, this allowed me to transfer my problem solving skill set to real engineering problems, with responsibilities on the line. This got me thinking as an engineer would with the practical solutions used in the industry day in day out.
Everything Else
I was shown around both sides of the work. The first being the office where the design takes place at Mott Macdonald Bentley and on site where the designs are interpreted and built. For me deciding whether I want to be in contracting or consulting this was very helpful for me.
For my time at the company there were not too many opportunities for this, however any company wide activities were mentioned to me. There was a sports day mentioned whilst I was there. Also emails of various seminars or meetings were sent company wide which could have been helpful for insight.

Yes definitely, there has been valuable insight and the company all around has been fantastic to me. Anything I didn’t understand was clearly explained if I asked and I believe it is a fantastic place to begin a career as the environment puts the worker first, which is most important.
