The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed working alongside such talented engineers. I learnt a great deal about working in an office and how my university knowledge could be applied.
Everyone was very kind and polite. My mentors were very patient and appreciative; I felt comfortable in asking questions.
My mentors provided support as much as they could; regardless of their busy schedules, they guided me through every task and ensured the tasks remained interesting and true to an engineering career.
I was mostly busy, however there were a few days when, understandably, my mentors were too busy and these days were very slow. However, this was very rare.
I was given responsibility for a few models however, understandably, nothing too major.
The skills I've developed will definitely be useful in my degree and I hope beyond. I'll be using the same software again, and my time has also increased my passion for structural engineering.
The Company
Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
I was given notice about being accepted quite late; however I was told about how the interview process did continue till quite late in the year. But the overall placement felt slightly unstructured but again, this is understandable considering the projects are constantly changing and tasks are created depending on that.
The time my mentors took out to help me was the greatest investment. They were extremely busy and having them still answer questions and check up on me was very useful and i'm extremely grateful.
Company Parties/Events
The atmosphere was very attractive in terms of employment. I also found the passion from every engineer was admirable.
The Culture
We had to organise meetups together however we did meet up for drinks and lunch a few times.
Drinks are expensive in london! I also travelled in everyday from zone 5, which was my biggest expenditure; and i know many others travelled from much further.
London is always busy!
There were a few socials, including going to lords cricket ground.
