The Role
I enjoyed most of my placement here, everyone in the office and throughout the company was so kind and happy to help and talk. Some of the tasks I was given were abit simple compared to some of the other interns there but I still enjoyed the placement and learnt alot
Some of the colleagues there I got to know very well and me and the other interns became very good friends and even after leaving we are all still in contact with eachother. My team was a little more distant, I didn't feel close to them and it was very much a working relationship
My manager was amazing, I was working in HR with reward and policy and if I had any problems or any questions I knew I could just go and talk to her. Also if I was struggling with the work load or had too much I knew I could let her know and she would help
This varied massively during the first half of my placement I was the right level of busy even though I was new and just started I was given alot of responsibility but the second half was very quiet I had weeks where i had no real tasks or projects to do which made the placement slow during these times
You're given a huge amount of responsibility, the work you will be doing will be valued and is needed for the projects you work on. You're definitely helping the company and your team, if you were not there someone else would have to complete the tasks you are given, you can also ask for more responsibility if you'd like to push yourself
During your placement you learn so much, not just how global companies work but also softer skills like time management and keeping to deadlines, I have already seen a change in how I complete my uni work and it has changed for the better. The way yourself changes during your placement will help you so much when you go back to uni
The Company
The atmosphere was amazing. I was working in the HR department in Frimley and the office would have some quiet days and then some very busy days but either way it was always a fun and friendly atmosphere, there are also several interns who work in the same area which really helped make it feel nice
The organisation of the placement was very good. During your time you will also complete the intern development plan which are 3 learning days where you'll learn and develop new skills which will help you during your placement, also at the beginning of my placement on the first day I was given a PowerPoint about all the projects I would be working on
The company invests a massive amount in you. You will go on training days to help you learn new skills which are not specific to Siemens they will also help you when you go back to uni and after you graduate. I also was given the opportunity to go on an extra excel training which was done by an external company which was a great opportunity

From my placement there is no opportunity for me to go back and work for the company which is sad, there are some graduate schemes at Siemens but there is no short cut or anything for someone who has completed a placement there and no he graduate schemes. I know that if you do engineering or another placement there, they do have routes for you for when you graduate
The Culture
I was very lucky and at the Frimley site there is quite a few placement students. We all got on so well and did alot of social activities together and net up after work and at weekends. We became great friends and still see eachother even after our placement which is great
Working in the Frimley office it was very expensive! I had to move down there and I know alot of the other interns did too and renting is very expensive in that area and for what you get paid it is hard to be able to alot of things as you don't get that much but if you plan you can budget for things each month
The night life is not the best, there's not many options around the Frimley area, but we went to one club in Camberley many times, it's kinda so bad it's good vibe you just have to embrace it for what it is and accept it won't be the best but you'll get so many stories from it
Siemens gives you some volunteer days so you can go and help support local chariets around your area. Apart from the interns there wasn't much to do outside of work that was organised unless you did it yourself. My team didn't really do much outside of work. I'm not sure if this is the same for all areas of the company
