The Role
Think the best descriptor for a placement at Microsoft is "ok". If you're technical, stay away. Work was entirely meaningless, and management were not there to support. Please look elsewhere.
Depends on the individual.
Manager would often leave messages unread for weeks. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] I did however make bonds with others in the team who agreed, and helped me navigate the rest of the internship.
No real role defined. You were just really placed in the team. There's only so much work you can make up for yourself.
Effectively none. Again, majority of my achievements across the year were defined by myself.
Complete waste of a year.

They decided that 12 months exposure to an individual wasn't enough to offer roles. You had to submit a CV and cover letter to even be considered, almost treated like an outsider.
The Culture
Average. Salary was awful however.
