The Role
My internship in the pre-operations department is a very enriching and formative experience. This type of project, which is the construction of a nuclear power plant, being a project that does not take place all the time, I take the opportunity I had to work on a project of this size. It is a great honor for me to be part of this wonderful project. I enjoyed every second of my internship and will be happy to join EDF Energy in future.
Everyone in this project is helpful and nice to work with. They took time to explain to me what their jobs consist on and to explain the role of pre-operation and what we need to do.
My supervisor explained to me on the first day what to do and how, and then presented the strategy of the joint management spares team. I am very satisfied with the autonomy I was given during this internship, which allowed me to appreciate it at my own pace while feeling useful and considered.
The successful completion of the HPC project to schedule is dependent on the availability of necessary spare parts at different phases of the project. So we need to produce a supply chain delivery plan to make sure of the delivery of our spares at the right time and in the right conditions. One of my tasks was to produce a supply chain delivery plan where it was necessary to contact several people involved in this project to know when they would receive their spare parts on site. This task required a lot of patience and communication with several people to get the right information.
I was Responsible for supporting the Work Management Lead. Assigned to the Pre-Operation department within the supply chain management team. My main task was to deliver the Supply Chain strategy for Hinkley Point C which covers Spare Parts and Outsourcing / ensur that requirements within contracts meet future Hinkley Point C Operability and Maintainability needs.
This internship helped me to : Understand the Operation of Nuclear Power Station Understand the issues involved in the construction of a nuclear power station Understand the importance of optimization process and reliability studies Understand the importance of the feedback from other nuclear power plants Develop Supply Chain skills Learn the Company Terminology Discover many trades involved in the HPC project Improve my English This internship allowed me to discuss and confirm my interest in the energy field and supply chain management.
