The Role
I really liked the work I had to during during my 10 weeks internship. I found the application I had to create very useful for the company. Developing the application also helped me learn multiple new skills and develop the ones that I already had before the internship. Overall, work wise I really enjoyed it!
I found the team I have worked in a bit unprofessional, at times I felt very very uncomfortable and sometimes excluded. I during the meetings some of the people would just not take the meeting seriously, laughing and looking at each other meanwhile. It was a very tense atmosphere at times and I didn’t really feel valued.
I have been given a lot of support during my internship from some of my teammates as well as my manager. Anytime I had a questions or I was blocked there was someone that would help me immediately. I have been given a lot of support for shadowing people around as well as meeting new people.
At the beginning there was not much work to do since my manager was away, but as soon as he got back I have been given my project and my schedule had become very busy, there was always something to do and always something to improve on. At the end of my internship I was still busy since I wanted to add extra features to my project.
I think I have been given a moderate amount of responsibility during my internship, my project was a quite big one and it was also something that was used a lot by the developers so I had to ensure that the final product was ready on time and that it met all the requirements at the end of my internship.
I consider that this internship has helped me a lot with learnig new skills , understanding how to work well as a team, how to communicate efficiently and how to manage my time setting my priorities and organizing my work in the most efficient way. I have learnt many new programming skills which will be a plus for me from now on.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was usually good apart from some times when my team mates would purposely exclude other people in the team, they were making inappropriate jokes about our teammates which made me feel very uncomfortable an which I did not find professional at all. This was the only issue, apart from this coming to work was a pleasure.
The internship was very well organised overall, everything had to be planned before, with constant feedback a mid term review to help us improve and help us understand what we are doing well and what we are not. The recruitment team was always very helpful and they organised everything very well and nice
I consider that we were not giving too much training, all the training we have done was online and not very helpful. Workwise mostly I have been told that I should search up different tutorials myself without getting any training, which was understandable since my teammates were very busy. The traning was fine.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Future employment prospects are very appealing, JPMORGAN gives the opportunity to grow really fast to every employee that does a good job, I consider that there is a very high chance of growing with this company if you invest yourself into it. The firm is growing very fast which also makes it appealing for future prospects.
The Culture
The social scene was fine. Not very active, no other social events apart from the ones set by the company
The cost of living in London is very expensive and the area is also pretty expensive
I didn’t really experience the night life in the area i worked
Not really, there was not much going on after work.
