The Role
I enjoyed my internship. I was able to get involved in a range of opportunities outside of my daily role, such as working in the studio for SU2C as well as helping out on the set up for Race for Life.
I felt valued by my colleagues, they took all my ideas seriously and allowed me to have an active contribution in meetings. I led various meetings myself and I felt that I was treated equally despite being an intern.
I was given a range of support from different people in the company. I was supported by my buddy, mentor, manager and wider team. I felt that I always had someone to go to if needed any assistance and was given guidance with finding a permanent role.
On a daily basis I felt like I was quite busy, I had to manage my own three projects and therefore I managed my own time. I felt I was efficient with my time and felt that I always had a task to be doing or something to get involved with.
I was given quite a bit of responsibility whilst leading on my own tasks and taking full control on launching the new website for Support A Young Scientist. I felt very responsible for this in particular as nobody else on my team was able to use drupal.
The skills I learnt will assist me in my further career. I felt it was hugely beneficial to get feedback from people on different levels to help me improve not only my character but also professionally.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was good, I like the hot desking idea and being able to talk to a range of different people.
I think it was organised well, there was a schedule of what would be happening every week. I liked the structure of the internship however, potentially in the future there could be some initial meetings at the beginning for everyone to get know each other more. As I started late I had to try and make my own connections with interns.
I felt that the personal training was good with the workshops you could sign up to. However, as I was not permanent staff I felt that these were not encouraged much for me to join and where just more optional if I liked. I tried to sign up to as many as I could during my time here.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I have currently got a permanent role in the company, the prospects where good. They encouraged us to apply for jobs on workday and to be proactive about asking various people about the roles and what they might entail. I think the talent team where very helpful in supporting interns through this process.
The Culture
There was quite a few socials during my time here at CRUK. I feel that I was welcomed into various different social outings in my team and the wider team. There is a range of opportunities here at CRUK to get involved in the social scene through pub quizes, ultra events and after work drinks.
The commute and cost for food and drinks in London can be expensive.
Average
