The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my year at Microsoft, the skills and confidence that I developed was amazing and the responsibility I held was fantastic.
I felt very valued as I was treated like a full time employee rather than just the 'intern'
My manager was fantastic. He enabled me to achieve the goals that I set out at the beginning of the year and helped me understand where I could improve and let me know when I was doing well.
I was not very busy at the start which meant I had to be proactive as there was a lot to learn. In the second half of the year when I gained more responsibility with customers I was far busier.
I was given a lot of responsibility, especially towards the last 6 months. I was responsible for a set of customers, I had guidance from my manager and mentor but it was a great experience being the sole point of contact
The skills and confidence are invaluable. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
The Company
Great, it was hot desking which was sociable
I had to be very proactive in setting out a structure as I was the first intern in the team
There was so much training content available, it was almost too much as you didn't know where to start!
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Very appealing, I will be joining them next year as a graduate which I'm really looking forward to!
The Culture
There was a great social scene with drinks most weeks and team meetings, I also played in the football team and played in Romania with them
I lived at home so much cheaper for me
Reading is okay but I didn't like it much... having said that I have grown up there so it's probably different for others
Yes, they hold lots of social events and sports teams, like football
