The Role
Was very happy and satisfied with the internship. Company is super versatile and there are a lot of projects one can be involved in.
Always felt like part of the team. Everyone is very friendly and pleasant to work with.
Anytime I had questions/ needed something, my supervisor/ manager was always there for me.
As I had to complete a project within 10 - weeks time, I kept myself pretty busy. However, I knew other Summer Interns in different teams who had moments of not doing any work. I would say as long as you are eager to learn and try new things - and you ask for work - there will be plenty to do.
I was tasked with creating a platform that would make the work of roughly 1.8 - 2K people more efficient, so I'd say it was a very important task.
The skills developed from the placement did not really contribute to my degree, as I am studying Mech. Eng., and I was doing a Project Management role. However, I was able to learn about different aspects of PM, which contributes to my future career plans.
The Company
The atmosphere is amazing. Company culture is very pleasant. Feels good to be working there.
The internship did not have an exact structure. Your work will depend on the business area you'll be placed in, on the workload, on your line manager/ supervisor and on how much effort you will be putting.
Plenty of modules and courses you can be enrolled in.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Strongly considering to come back.
The Culture
Was acquainted with other Summer Placement interns and some Graduates. Occasionally went out for drinks.
Really depends on everyone's perception of "expensive/ cheap". My opinions is costs are decent/ great - especially in comparison with London.
Birmingham offers plenty of options for nightlife.
The office had couple of clubs. Also, some teams/ groups of people get together certain days of the week after work to play badminton, football, tennis, etc. Moreover, various events get organized quite often.
