Management Trainee Review

Overall, the internship offered at Enterprise exceeded my expectations. From the warm welcome of every staff member, to the exposure I gained throughout my three months there, everything was very professional whilst still being interesting and exciting. I never felt like I couldn't speak up or ask questions and everyone was more than willing to teach me more whenever I asked.

From day one, I felt like I was part of the team. The branch I was sent to had a lot of changes happening when I started in terms of staffing, but each member made sure I was welcomed and had the appropriate training. My branch manager was extremely helpful in particular, never once acting as if he was superior to me. He always encouraged me to learn more and step out of my comfort zone to push myself. The staff at other branches and head office were also so friendly.

My manager did a great job from the start of training me, answering all of my questions (and there were a lot!) and of pointing me in the right direction in terms of who to speak to if I wanted to learn about a different aspect of the business. For example, when I wanted to learn more about the corporate marketing aspect of Enterprise, he set up a meeting with our corporate accounts manager and this member of staff took the time to tell me about his job in detail.

VERY BUSY! Because I joined in the summer period when a lot of families and international customers want to rent a car, I did not have a single day where I was clock watching or counting down the hours until home time. It just wasn't like that. Each day was different from the last and my tasks ranged a lot so I was never bored or feeling like I was doing the same thing over and over. Some days were extremely busy and I felt like I didn't stop moving but for me, that's how I want it to be.

Much more responsibility was given to me than I anticipated. Which in some ways was slightly daunting at the beginning, but it definitely allowed me to gain a real insight into how the business works and what tasks must be completed on a daily and weekly basis. On my first day I was dealing directly with customers, answering the phone and dealing with queries and complaints. From then on, I was learning the admin side of the branch and how to work the system.

Throughout my internship, I definitely developed upon skills I had gained throughout previous part-time work. Patience and communication are probably my two that I have developed the most. Customer service facing roles can be challenging when the customers themselves are not happy but being patient and understanding can definitely help in winning back the customer. in this role, I have learnt that communicating with the customers through frequent updates and also talking to your colleagues when something unexpected comes up or plans changes in fundamental in maintaining a smooth and efficient work day. Alongside these, I would also say management is another skills I have developed in this role. As a Management Trainee, you gain an insight into how Enterprise works as each branch is responsible for its own success.

Really upbeat! It's quite a young team and everyone wants to be sociable so it is very easy to integrate yourself. Enterprise encourages branch lunches and dinners too so there is always a chance to talk to your colleagues and get to know them better. Overall, everyone is really friendly, even over the phone when they work at a different branch.

It was good overall. The recruitment process was straightforward, with great communication from the recruitment team via email and phone. The best part about the recruitment process was that on your second interview, you get to go to the branch you'll be working in and meet the team. This gives you a great idea of what you'll be doing and who you'll be working with. The only negative would be that the communication between the recruitment team and the branches could be better - I went to my branch on my first week and there was a certain level of expectation that I would know certain things and we did not cover such things in training.

The company is really great at encouraging interns to push themselves and learn as much as possible in three months. My manager was always there to explain a different aspect of the business and the rest of the team always showed me how to do things several times before doing it on my own. The firm has also asked if I wanted to come and work part-time once I go back to university which is encouraging for me as I can continue to develop.

Very appealing! They offer part-time work during university which I don't think many other companies offer. I was expecting just to end my internship then potentially join again once I graduate. Their graduate scheme is apparently really great and focuses firmly on development. And also, they offer students to become Campus Brand Managers where they can speak on behalf of Enterprise at university events such as careers fairs - and you get paid!

Within my first month, my area managers organized for all of the new starters to have an evening out where we were given welcome packs and spent the evening socializing and getting to know one another. We also have group chats on social media that we can connect to other interns through. Plus area nights out happen every couple of months so you can also meet them at such events.

I live in the area at my parents' house so I don't pay rent as other interns would. Therefore, in terms of living costs I wouldn't really know. Socialising can be expensive the closer you go towards Central London but equally there are plenty of cheap and cheerful things to get involved in. Facebook is a great way to find local events to go to! But after a long week at work - sometimes going out is the last thing you want to do!

There's loads to do in terms of nightlife. Bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants... There's also loads of individual events that you can get involved in with groups of people. Themed events, outdoor cinemas, Ping-Pong bars, crazy golf. There really is something for everyone, you just might have to travel a little bit to get there but transport is really good in the area.

Yes. They have some informal sports clubs that you can get involved in. There's very little commitment and so you can do it when time permits but aren't required to go all the time. Branch lunches and dinners happen quite frequently which gives you the opportunity to socialize in an informal setting.
