    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very pleasing. I was given a choice over the projects I could get involved in. Exciting projects and very friendly team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very much so. I was able to get involved in a variety of different projects. They welcomed any comments/suggestions I had on the projects and considered me a part of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was always provided with feedback on the work I competed and assistance whenever necessary. The team members I was working with made sure to give me a strong introduction to their projects and checked up on me to ensure I was not too busy/had enough to do.

  • I was given a good amount of work.

  • I was given a good amount of responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Very helpful. Developed skills and knowledge not taught at university. Summer placement was great in bridging the gap between my studies.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly and welcoming. A variety of different social events to get involved in.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. There was a thorough induction to the company/office/team provided in the first two days of the placement. I was introduced to the team which made me feel comfortable and able to settle in very quickly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The team made sure I was building a broad range of skills and gaining experience in a wide variety of projects. There were a number of CPD events available each week and opportunities to develop new skills with new projects and online learning modules available to all staff.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very! Arup is a terrific company to work for - this summer I was able to develop skills and knowledge not taught at university whilst making great connections and working on some very exciting projects!
