The Role
Overall I enjoyed my internship at nomura due to the great culture and environment. People were very helpful and always happy to explain processes in more detail to you. Especially the rotational programme at nomura helped me decide which area is more suitable for me. I highly recommend the internship at Nomura.
I have completed two rotations and in both every single team member was happy to help. Furthermore they took their time to explain their day to day business to me in more detail which allowed me to get a better understanding of the whole team. This made me feel very valued by each team member.
For each rotations the manager have given me a lot of support and advice. Even though they are very busy they still took their time to sit down with me to explain things in more detail. Overall management was very helpful and kind. I enjoyed working with my managers at nomura.
The work is dependant on the team and if they have the capacity to give you projects. For my first rotation I was working on a deal which kept me busy for four weeks. However my second rotation was client focused meaning I was not occupied on a daily basis. How busy you are is what you make out of your team (networking and talking to people).
I was give a lot of independence and responsibility on my project. If questions arises the team was happy to answer questions I had in regards to my work. Overall the amount of responsibility was high and I enjoyed being given this opportunity to work independently on my project.
The skills I gained will be very beneficial for my studies. I have developed a stronger understanding about finance theoretically and practically. Furthermore I have developed strong communication and analytical skills which will help me in my further studies. Overall the skills I gained are valuable and will also help in terms of organisation.
The Company
The atmosphere and culture is great at nomura. People are very nice and helpful. They are motivated and intelligent people who take their time to explain their day to day business. It is a great colony to work for in the future as culture and the environment are very crucial.
Unfortunate the internship was not well organised in my year. This was very unfortunate as offers were given late and there was a change in the organisation team. However they organised talks and events with the other interns which were very fun. They organise mid term socials and an event at the end of the internship.
The company invest a lot in your training for your development. The first week is intensive training in analytical and technical skills meaning excel and learning about financial markets. The teaching assistant for our training were very helpful. They helped me not to only prepare for the internship but the knowledge I gained will also help me for my further studies.

The future prospect for employment is very difficult as you need to demonstrate commitment and performance throughout the whole internship to impress everyone. But if you have demonstrated excellent development and are keen to learn the prospect for employment are very high. Therefore it’s important to work hard during the 10 weeks.
The Culture
We were only a small amount of interns however we all got along very well. Nomura ensures during the internship interview process to hire interns who are not only smart but demonstrate great people skills. Overall all of us intern got along very well and enjoyed my 10 weeks with them.
Nomura is located right in central city centre. Therefore the price for socialising can be very high. Furthermore searching for flat can be difficult and expensive. London generally is one of the most expensive cities so w lifestyle there comes with a high cost. However London is a great city with loads of fun things to do.
The area has a lot of bars and some clubs. Nomura has a terrace with great views and drinks once a week. The area is always busy with loads of people around. Therefore the nightlife is great and fun to be as many business companies are located around the area.
There are some opportunities to get involved in activities such as joining clubs. For examples sport clubs e.g. football. The office also offers and in sight gym which is great and convenient to join. Nomura also has a beautiful terrace located inside the building which offers drinks once a week.
