Summer Management Intern Review

Really enjoyed it tremendously! You need to be learning a lot and doing a wide variety of tasks, you'll be working hard but if you are a hard worker and really want to learn and get on in your career then this is an internship that you really will enjoy!

Enterprise Rent-a-Car has a real culture of learning and feedback. Feedback provides both an opportunity to learn and to have really informative and motivating conversations with other colleagues. Generally Enterprise is a fast paced work environment and so it is not always possible but on the whole I felt that I was valued by colleagues, and was praised when I did things well, and given opportunities to really take on more responsiblity.

At Enterprise if you ask questions someone will always endeavour to help you. In the company people want to help you progress, it is a meritocracy and so any guidence you do need you can be sure that you will be supported. Sometimes the branch is busy but you progress is definetely important, and in fact this was impressed on me by my manager after he noticed I completed branch work but not personal learning work.

Very! As I've said this is a company in great demand and you will be busy. Do not get me wrong though, I really enjoyed that aspect of it. I was at Enterprise for 16weeks and I cannot think of a single day that dragged -that seemed a really nice thing to me!

Lots -at Enterprise if you ask for the chance to take on something then someone will be willing to support you in that. I really enjoyed training new starts so was given this important responsibility, I also became a service captain within 2 weeks, and on certain days ran the day towards the end of my internship. You can set you responsibility and won't be pushed in before you feel ready though -but ask and you'll be given opportunities.

In terms of my degree perhaps not too much directly as a history student. However in terms of the less tangible skills perhaps a lot: time management, resilience, problem solving, teamwork, training, compromise, amongst other personal skills will really be developed along with gaining business sense and more tangible skils. Along with this your business skills and customer service skills will be honed for the future and this cannot put your career in a better postion.

Generally there was quite a good atmosphere -this goes along with being busy. There is a good atmosphere when customers are satisfied and we have good conversations with them, and staff in my branch really got on with each other well which meant that humour and friendliness between staff and customers was mutual. At times you will have unhappy customers and this will affect the atmosphere but on the whole it was a nice environement to work in.

Again, I feel it is very well organised. You are given a booklet to help you manage you development which includes a 7day road map to help your inital induction and then some business improvement projects to help you hone your business thinking furher. Furthermore this structure allows you decide your own areas for development and this fluidity and personalisation is motivating.

As said, Enterprise wants you to develop, they want you to progress, as a Intern they want you to be in a good postion for the future if you come back to quickly progress. Staff of all experiences will happily help you and answer questions. They will trust you and from day 1 put your ideas into pracitce.

Working here was fun, and you really begin to love the cultue there. Yes you will work hard, but the opportunities in one of the UK's quickest growing companies is really appealing and the finacnial rewards for being part of that growth as well as the internal opportunties to develop is appealing looking forward.

Yes, certainly! We would have area nights out where we would have a drink and do some activity such as bowling or laser quest etc. At branch level we would also go for after work drinks on certain days to relax and get to know each other. Additionally, particularly with other interns I got on really well with them and this was certainly a nice part of it.

Aberdeen is a student city so it is relatively cheap although there are certainly cheaper areas to live as Aberdeen is an oil town. You will find it cheaper that Edinburgh or Glasgow, but more expensive than some of the smaller towns where Enterprise Rent-a-Car can be found. Due to being a student city the social scene in terms of bar, restruants, and other clubs and activities is very good.

As a student city the nightlife is very good if that sort of thing interests you. There are hundreds of bars and pub, and a good selection of nightclubs for any age and music tastes. During the summer this scene is much quieter but still plenty to get up to on your evenings off.

As said we did there are plenty of social activites to get involved in as part of the company but other than what I've already said we didn't do much else.
