The Role
I was actually very enthusiastic about going in and learning how working life works and to see what life is going to be like as a junior engineer I had a lot of fun. There was something new to do and learn everyday so i enjoyed that very fun .
I was supported and guided everyday made me feel like I was valued and appreciated hence I went in to work with happiness and passion they always asked me if I needed any help or guidance I was invited to every meeting I felt included into everything that was going on
There was training provided and a work buddy that was assigned to be for my time there I never felt alone or lost they were always there available for any questions and guidance for anything i needed my work was double checked and feedback was always provided that felt good
It varied day to day but in general it was all manageable if I finished my work i was given more if i wanted it they have a very good balance in work load and employees mental health a weekly meeting was mandatory to see how everyone is coping with the work
Fair amount but no authorization responsibility was given to me which is understandable but I was given tasks that were only my responsibility and I had deadlines to get them completed it really felt like I was in a working life scenario it really helped with my time management skills.
I learned how to time management my work and the quality of my work improved emailing in professional ways how to and whom to speak to in common terms it's all a learning curve I needed as I knew nothing about that kind of professional life I took that back to my university work
The Company
VERY VERY upbeat and happy environment we had plants bean bags we had a open desk policy we had a very good approach to our peers it was like we were all friends we could tell each other anything that was bothering us at work it would get looked into not ignored
I was welcomed by the HR and Manager they both talked me through the health and safety and fire alarm they thoroughly provided me with the introduction of the company and the staff book was provided to me they introduced me to everyone and my "buddy" then took it from there
Whenever there was internal training I was always encouraged to go and attend it I was encouraged to join any of the sports teams the company was playing in and of the charity work they were doing, weekly feedback by my manager was a great way to see how I could improve my experience
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I would highly recommend this company it's a fun environment work is fun when it doesn't feel like work that's how I felt when I was there they really look after there staff and that showed in how there employees rated them in there yearly staff surveys I can really say there all true
The Culture
There were all sorts of events you could join sports /charity and internal fun events you could do yourself they always welcomed new ideas and they like to keep things fun and exciting so internal and external events were always encouraged and welcomed always fun to do and the managers joined to
I would say it was manageable for a student as there so many local eating places and the company had a food cafe and a lunch area you could bring your own food and warm it up and once a week they had a employee food share day we would bring food on Friday. (optional if your a bad cook)
From what I experienced while I was there you will never be bored :) there is always so many fun games to play outside in the green area near the office all these different office people would come and join there places to drink and get street food and clubs
ALWAYS! they kept us busy and who wouldn't love to be having fun at work and outside work with fun people that you actually get on with the company is a big advocate for being mentally healthy everything was very open and inviting anyone could join the emails would come through and you could go !
