About You
I really enjoyed this insight. I found it very useful as we were given many opportunities and has a variety of people from different areas of work describing their job and advising us. We were given activities that would help us find n the future and so there was a lot to learn and take away.
Everybody treated us very kindly and respectfully as though we were employees and their colleagues. We taken care of and if we ever needed help, everybody was willing to help to the best of their ability. Many of employees had spoken to us regularly asking about our experiences and would always advise us.
Each day we learnt something new and had the support of every employee present. In terms of presentations and interviews, we were given great advice by different employees so overall, we were supported greatly and during any activities we were given feedback. If there ever was a problem or any questions were asked, they would be solved or answered.
During the week, we had activities which included improving our presentation and interview skills which we learn new things that we could take away with us. We were advised by interviewers and th reform we were given great guidance on what interviewers really look for which in turn would help us in the future with any interview.
The Company
The insight was structured perfectly and very thoughtfully. We were given timetables for each day which included the timings and the different activities that would take place duruing the day. We were giving notepads and pens to help us during the day and overall, there were no problems due to the great organisation.
In general, the atmosphere was sophisticated as well as fun. Duruing the day, there was no moment where I felt uncomfortable as there was always something to do and the employees were very friendly. We very quickly got to know everyone and so it was very enjoyable as well as the fact food and drink was always provided.
E.ON had invested a significant amount of their time for us. For instance, many of the employees had devote their time to come and talk to us about their jobs, their studies at universities and their career paths including apprenticeships as well as a talk from the CEO. This meant that all of them had left their work to talk and advise us as well as plan activities.
One of the activities was all about careers and what E.ON offered to young people. From careers week, apprenticeships to the graduate schemes, we were told on all the viable options E.ON had to offer. In addition, on another day, we were given the opportunity to talk to twenty members of staff and ask as many questions as we wanted to about their work.
The insight quite significantly helped me in understanding the company culture as I was able to see how to company works as I was able to experience what the employees experience on a day-to-day basis. I was able to see the fun atmosphere where coming to work is enjoyable rather than a duty.
In my opinion, I think that the content of the day had greatly helped me to decide on a future career path. For instance, we were heavily informed about the consequences of climate change and what E.ON as a company are doing to try and prevent it which inspired me and th content also made me understand that in a large company like E.ON, many skills play a part allowing me to understand that my chosen degree will allow me to work in numerous places.
Everything Else
Due to the Career's Inspiration Week was open to anybody, the travel expenses (or place of temporary residence) was reimbursed. We were given £20 limit a day in which we fill out a form covering the mileage or the cost of the ticket in order for E.ON to reimburse us for our travels meaning cost was not a problem for us.
Due to the fact that I had met over 20 E.ON employees since they had come to speak to us, I had the opportunity to meet them, ask questions ad I was able to network. This was possible because the employees were friendly and offered to give their emails and were willing to help and advise me if I ever needed to.
There were various activities in which we were given opportunities to network. For instance, there was an activity on practice interviews and prior to the interview, we had a one-to-one with a member of the firm and we were able to interact and ask questions. Furthermore, many of the employees would always speak to us so we had the chance to network.
Not a great deal of emphasis was established on the activities that employees can get involved in except for campaigns they may believe in. For example, many of the employees are very passionate about the problem of climate change and what they can do beside support E.ON in order to reduce carbon emissions.
Personally, I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend because I found that not only was it extrememely helpful, but it I found it was a great opportunity since I was able to take away many new skills that will help me in the future. In addition, I was able to make connections with friendly employees who are always willing to help.
