    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I found the Jefferies 'Inspiring Women for Finance Symposium' to be a an enjoyable and informative day. Compared to insight events I have attended at other companies, the structure of the day was more organised and the information given was both practical and felt more personalised to us. We had a range of opportunities in the day from hearing from professionals to an office tour, etc.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • As the number of attendees was relatively small, I felt very valued at Jefferies. Employees at the company portrayed the collaborative and supportive culture at Jefferies which was passed onto us during the insight day. The range of activities in the day showed that the recruitment team wanted to give us the best and most realistic image of the company which was very helpful.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received a lot of guidance including: - Information from individuals from each main division of Jefferies - Information from all different seniorities in the company - Networking tips - Application advice Overall we were offered the maximum level of guidance which will allow us to make informed decisions regarding the next step into our future

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed greater networking skills as we had several sessions where we learned about the process, practiced and got feedback from our peers. This is a crucial skill which I am glad I experienced a great deal of at this insight day because it is a skill which I will require for the rest of my degree and beyond into my career

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. Compared to insight events at other companies that I have attended, this was particularly longer as it started at 9.30am and completed around 6.30pm. This allowed us to partake in a number of activities which I thought was very beneficial. However, I think it was slightly longer than needed and if it was slightly shorter, we would have been more engaged towards the end

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere at Jefferies was positively not as expected. Although it is an international investment bank, the culture at Jefferies was very relaxed, supportive and the general motivation was apparent amongst all the employees as they work towards their goals together. Throughout the day, I was also able to network with my peers which I believe created a more comfortable atmosphere between us.

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I believe that Jefferies offered a great insight into what we can achieve at the company as well as great advice for the application process. However, in terms of the personal aspect, we did not receive a great amount of individual feedback or advice which then made the information given more general.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I have developed a great understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role with Jefferies as we heard from a wide range of areas in the company, employees from all backgrounds holding different positions and we were able to ask any questions we had regarding the company.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight helped a great deal to understand the company culture which was important as in this industry, there is a perceived culture at these firms however Jefferies showed how it differentiates from its competitors as a smaller bank but not any less established. This appealed to me personally as I particularly liked the work dynamic amongst employees

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the day was very valuable in helping to decide on my future career path. I now know which field I would like to further my career in, I know the steps I need to take from now on, and I know that I would like to apply to this company

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I am yet to complete the application to be reimbursed for this insight day but this should be approved and then I will be adequately reimbursed for this insight day experience. I am glad that Jefferies offers this option for attendees as the cost can be quite considerable for several.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • From the moment we entered, we were encouraged to network with our peers until the first talk started. We were then taught key skills required for networking with employees. Then at lunch and the end of the day we were able to implement these practices with several employees from different functions

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • I found the networking / social event opportunities to be very beneficial as this is the key skill that is required in this industry. It gave us an opportunity to ask any questions we had and interact with senior individuals on a personal level which helped to break up the long day.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • No

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend as it not only does it help to start the application process for this company in particular, but it helps to develop skills which you will require wherever you choose to work in the future. I also met some fellow attendees which I will keep in touch with.
