The Role
Working at Accenture this Summer was great. The internship scheme was organised so that we could develop both personally and professionally expanding our network as well as making firm friendships. Accenture provided support throughout the scheme meaning that if we always knew that there was someone we could speak to if we felt overwhelmed etc.
I became great friends with my intern cohort and the organisation of the internship scheme was great at ensuring that we all became close over the ten-weeks. With my colleagues I quickly felt that I became a part of the team and the community being supported and included in day-to-day activities and gaining real business experience.
The Early Recruitment / Talent team were great at providing all of the interns with guidance and support meaning that if we were ever uncertain or felt overwhelmed we had someone outside of our team that we could speak to. My manager was great at providing me with both personal and professional support during my first experience in the corporate world. The guidance and advice that he provided me with was invaluable.
I was busy but not overwhelmingly. My role within the team became increasingly defined and thus my responsibilities increased over the ten-weeks. Due to my relationship with my manager I felt as though I was able to shape my workload being able to ask for more experience in certain parts of the project etc. This was great because it meant that although I was busy and was being tested it never became overwhelming or boring because I was doing something that I genuinely found interesting and exciting.
My responsibility increased throughout the replacement. Due to confidentiality and privacy reasons I was never allowed to directly interact with the client which was a shame, but, apart from this I felt that at the end of the ten-week scheme I had a legitimate role within the team producing work etc that was key to the functioning of the team and delivering value for the client.
What was great about the scheme at Accenture was that that as an intern you developed both personally and professionally meaning that we could transfer what we learnt beyond our professional lives and even our degree. For me it was an invaluable experience, particularly the confidence that it gave me in curating, maintaining and strengthening a network.
The Company
The Accenture office has a great atmosphere. As this was my first corporate experience I didn't know what to expect, but, I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the atmosphere was at Accenture. The people at Accenture, not just those in early talent or your team, genuinely took an interest in you as an intern and wanted to help.
The early talent recruitment team organised the internship so well. It was so useful to start the ten-weeks with a week of training where we learnt both the hard and soft skills that would help us succeed at Accenture, as well as form a network with the fellow interns. Throughout the scheme I felt that they were good at checking in to see how we were doing, and it was lovely to have a celebration at the end.
I felt that Accenture really wanted us to get the most out of the internship, as well as, wanted us to contribute as much as we could to the company. This meant that there were continual opportunities for training and development that you could grasp if you wanted to. What was also great was that there were opportunities for development like the mental health allies scheme that if you seized felt that you were becoming more and more immersed in the company.

I am thrilled to have been offered a job at Accenture. I can't wait to return to Accenture in September 2020 after I finish my degree studies and continue to grow both personally and professionally as well as become more immersed in the Accenture community and culture. It will be great knowing that I am starting my career at such an exciting and well meaning company!
The Culture
Yes. I felt that the internship was laid out in a way that meant that we genuinely became friends with each other and I felt that throughout the ten-weeks there were opportunities to hang-out together socially. Some interns did socialise more than others, but, I think this was more personal preference than a failing in the organisation of the scheme.
Being based in London it was expensive. I was lucky enough to be able to live at home or else I think I would have struggled. It was nice that Accenture organised events for us that were complimentary and subsidised so that everyone did have opportunities to socialise no matter the budget.
Being in London there was a great variety of different places that we could socialise at night. I tended to prefer going for lunch, dinner, or coffee than actually going out, but, the opportunities were there if I wanted to seize them. It was nice getting to learn about places around the City that I hadn't been to before.
There were so many opportunities. Accenture is great in regards to having so many clubs and societies that you can become a part of that truly make you feel as though you are a part of the Accenture community. Doing the netball and yoga club were particular favourites of mine. It was also great because these opportunities meant that you could make friends and a network outside of your team or the intern cohort.
