The Role
A fantastic experience, every day was busy, challenging and helped me develop as a person. If you're looking to grow in a great team and company, you will enjoy working here. Everyone there is really open and friendly, the office is fantastic and socials with the intern group are great.
As an intern, understandably you won't be given such important or critical work. However I felt what I did offer was highly valued by the team, which couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. I was always recognised for good work, something which as reflected in standard team practice, and felt I was really making an impact, even if small.
I was assigned a buddy and line manager, both of whom worked with me extremely closely. We would catch up at least once-twice a day without fail and they would always ensure I was comfortable with the work I was undertaking. Even the senior managers were comfortable to arrange time for a coffee to support with work or personal development which was really nice.
Working on a financial services project, I was bound to be busy. Every single day for the 2 months I had at least 10 pending tasks, right until the final day at 6pm. I had to do one or two late nights and at times it got stressful but overall better than being bored.
Once the team had given me tasks and I had settled in they were more than happy for me to take full responsibility and ownership of certain aspects of the project. I was then able to manage and ask other members of the team to support, which gave me confidence and made me feel valued by the team. However the scope of these responsibilities were still quite small and of limited overall impact.
If you're looking for an internship that will help you develop general skills for the future, this is really one of the best. Not only am I now more proficient in many software, I feel way more organised, confident and have greatly improved my communication, negotiation and problem solving skills to the point where I look forward to starting the next year of uni on another level.
The Company
The office is open plan and generally very, well, open. I was sitting in different desks each day, in amongst other consultants of all levels, all on different projects and all doing different work. It's just a huge bubble of activity which encourages productivity and gives a real sense of freedom for your own time-management. Way better than having an assigned desk.
Very well organised overall. We had an induction week which helped us settle in and get to know each other and the company better. Then, no time wasted, we jumped straight into the project and were doing challenging, rewarding work right from the start. A few socials were sprinkled here and there to make an overall outstanding internship package.

Consulting is a fantastic industry in general, but Accenture being such a large company, there is huge scope for development and progression through the firm. People are generally not competing for promotion, assessment is purely on merit, not even on time spent at the firm which is surprising. One of the best companies to start at.
