The Role
I really enjoyed this internship as I was exposed to a wide variety of responsibilities that someone working in the company would have. I was given real responsibility and felt that I was making an impact in the company. I also enjoyed the social scene and tried to get involved in as many activities as possible.
My colleagues were always happy to answer questions and provide guidance. Even people outside my own team would be happy to meet to discuss their experiences if I reached out to them. I felt valued by my team as even very senior managers made time to meet and share their experiences.
I met with my manager on a weekly basis to discuss my progress / goals and tasks for the upcoming week. Interns are also partnered with a 'buddy' on their team (usually at analyst level) that they communicate with on a daily basis and can help with most issues encountered when completing tasks.
Most of the internship I had an average amount of work, however there were also periods that were relatively slow but this was to be expected as it was summer. Work life balance was always respected and I never had to stay after 6pm, although this may vary depending on which team you are placed in.
I was given a wide range of responsibilities from basic, admin type tasks that needed to be completed to actual deliverables. I worked with a range of different people on all ranks (from analysts to managing directors) in the team.
I was given training in various software that may not help directly in my degree subject, but will help improve the way I present information. I have also improved my communication, networking, management and presentation skills that will be instrumental during and beyond my studies. Experiencing the general working culture in a company like Accenture was also enjoyable.
The Company
The office was a great place to work at although quite busy at times. Everyone was friendly regardless of their rank and most people are happy to spend time discussing their experiences with you. Desks were sometimes fully booked but as it was the summer when I interned, I did not experience an issue with this.
It was really well set up with constant communication from HR as soon as the offer was made. HR would respond very quickly to any concerns or questions. The first week of the internship was an induction session that was well organised and a good way to ease into starting a new role.
The first week was training and induction and interns were given training in certain software and learnt about the culture at the company. Throughout the internship, the assigned 'buddy' provided support specific to the allocated project, and as mentioned the manager was also eager to help especially in terms of personal goals.

I would love to return to Accenture as I value the amount of support they provide their employees as well as the people here and projects available.
The Culture
It was a good social scene with some socials planned just for the interns. I made friends with the other interns that were based in the same location however, it was more difficult to meet with those placed in other locations, who would see more of their team than other interns.
There were some paid for socials for the interns. However, living and socialising in London is quite expensive. Having said that, the company perks did help with living costs and the salary does cover expenses and socialising in general. For an out of town project, travel and accommodation is fully covered by the company.
London is packed with clubs and bars. Restaurants and shops also stay open until reasonably late.
There are lots of opportunities to get involved with sports, cultural clubs, book clubs, yoga, wine tasting, etc. There were also meet the leader breakfasts and things like marathons etc that one could take part in. The important thing is to be proactive in looking for activities as Accenture offers an endless amount!
